    if all the greys on a grey scale turn black, then grey scale should use less. if the grey scale is actually a black and white image like a word document, it won’t make a difference. the best way is to print things as small as possible

    Just bought my first printer and trying to understand what will make ink cartridge last longest

    use the “Draft” print setting for fastest and least ink.

    Most printers come with the ink cartridges about a quarter full. That’s why some printers cost less than the replacement cartridges.
