Seems like I’m racing down this at the weekend

All my memories of trying to ride fast on wet grass seem to involve bruises. Any suggestions?

    LOL

It’s like going racing in 1991 all over again!

Spikes… Big long ones… Or anything with plenty of edge bite at least to cut through the grass and into the dirt.

Aye, that’s all I can think of, racing my mates down the big grassy hill behind the playing fields on my Raleigh Marauder. Then riding into the big fence.

I was impressed with the black chilli contis on wet grass but mboys suggestion might be better

SB8s are surprisingly good – all those little contact points. Or ice tyres.

Hah, funnily enough the BFes got an ice spike fitted. Hmm. I think that might be frowned upon by the scrutineers

I’d suggest a semi slick. But then I’m going to be watching with a nice cold beer and a camera.

If I remember rightly, the runner up on the night during Tweedlove last year only just managed to crawl up to collect his prize before limping off to nurse his wounds, after crashing in the final run. It looks like great fun but those youngsters are too darn fast for me. And no sense of self preservation.

So let’s see what we’ve got
A Nevegal with a load of screws sticking out of it (conveniently fitted)
    Various other Nevegals- no
    2.35 Minions- maybe
2.5 Highrollers- seems a bit silly
    Nobby Nics- hah no
Small Block 8s- need to do some research om igm to see if he’s trying to murder me.
Assorted Swampthings- no idea at all
Could always go with the Schwalbe Marathons, remove the element of surprise

    A mud tyre I think

So let’s see what we’ve got

Forget your tyre choice, go and beg/steal/borrow some motorbike leathers as your number 1 priority. Sounds like you’re coming off anyway, so you may as well do it and be able to get back up again uninjured!

Liking the sound of the Nevegal with screws sticking out of it… NOT!!! 😐

Take the tyres off, rims should dig in well.

Good idea, I could stick on my 729s, they’ve got nice massive rims for maximum gnarrage.

Depends if you want low rolling resistance or grip. Which is it?

Definately grip. I’m not out for the prize, there’ll be mental youngsters and godlike elder beings there so my goals are a) survival and b) not being last. Ideally c) not being beaten by my mate Pete but since I’m expecting to ruin him in the enduro race that’s just a nice-to-have.

Off that lot, Swampy’s would get my vote, I’d certainly have on on the front at least.
