  • What shoes?

My Lake shoes are dying, so I need shoes that’ll take SPD’s and that I can walk, drive a car and mow my Dad’s lawn in. For road only. Any thoughts????

That’s a seriously diverse set of requirements. Something like a Specialized 2FO clipped sprung to mind but I wouldn’t want to ride road in it, the new Recon would work better on a bike but would be too stiff for walking, mowing and driving.

Why not buy a cheap pair of Karrimor approach shoes from Sports Direct and a proper pair of cycling shoes for the bike?

There must be shoes where the cleats don’t touch the ground, as they’re recessed enough, like my dear old Lake shoes. I wiil look into the Specialised 2 FO, they look possibe.

I have been looking at those mavic crossmax ones for the past couple of months as my previous ones deteriorate in to unusable.

RRP around £150, CRC £120, German shops about £90, but I found a pair on the Sports Direct website yesterday for only £67. Seems like a very good value compared to other shops, and I thought that they only usually stocked flimsy muddyfox cycling stuff, football kits, giant mugs and Reebok Classic trainers.

The 2FO are great for on and off the bike. Had a few rides in mine and are the most comfy spd shoes I’ve used and that from some one with big and wide feet with high instep!

Peekay, were your previous shoes Mavic Crossmark? If so could you walk, drive, dance in them??

Flashes. No, they were Northwave ones, but having tried on a friend’s crossmax they seem to tick my boxes which were similar to yours.

Just got meself a pair of Giro Terraduro. Vibram soles for walking, fairly stiff for pedaling and the cleats don’t hit the floor.

    Liking them so far
