    As well as XC races… Marathons and Triathlon for me, the last couple of years

    When I was a lad (14-18) it was American Football. My youth team won the national championship 2 years in a row…. Also played for GB at youth level. Had a year off between youth and senior to try and bulk up a bit… when I went back I realised it was the football that was giving me the splitting headaches so stopped … shame, I loved it …. legalized violence 😈

    Me too. We shared our training ground with the local rugby team, who would give us stick for wearing pads etc. A brave few took up our challenge and had a go. None came back, stating it was far too rough 😀

    I used to compete in rowing, I did a lot at uni and could have even made it to the olympics at one stage!! Other than that I’ve done a lot of skiing to a high level, climbing I used to climb in chamonix once a year, quite a lot of bmx too.

    Dammit! Forgot to put paintball as one of my post-uni sports. Was in a team that did a lot of comps at a European level in 2000/2001. Sadly, I needed to save money and so I had to stop playing so much.

    Club football for a bit, club sailing for a bit, Club hockey for a good while with an opportunity for county trials that I turned down because it was for another county and meant training 2 hours away. Did a bit of fell running a while back, came 3rd once. Might get back into hockey and sailing at Uni, want to pick up climbing and rowing.

    @sambob – do a team sport at Uni …

    A lot of talented folks here, the closest I got to international competition is playing with and against people at that standard, it was generally apparent they had that extra level, most impressive.
