Im happy with my Santa Cruz Butcher that Ive had for a year+ but I keep seeing nice bikes (YT) but I cant justify binning all my decent (but used) kit for a full new bike. So frames… Meta v4, Spitfire? any others? Dont think I can stretch to SC sadly.

Ideal would be like a SC Blur 4x but is tapered headtube.

Just buy a yt and sell the kit that comes with it, vfm is so good you’ll be sitting pretty

Thats a good option. I’d keep my Hope wheels. Ive already got 2015 650b Fox 34’s. I need a new rear rim so was going to 26-650b them soon. My Havoc bars etc etc are all good (but marked cosmetically).

How about saving a lot of trouble and stick to things you can actually try…

Agree but that rules out alot. UK only is ££.

My suggestion was to at least find one to sit one, you must know somebody who owns some of the things you are looking at – or just hang round at Llandegla for an afternoon.

If a blur 4x. Is what you want! Why not look at TRC or A then same geometry just a tad more room in the TT?

Loving my bandit…but the stock shock was crap. The ccdb inline makes it a proper ripper along with an angleset and 150 pikes.

a friend has a pristine TRC for sale. no expense spared on the build and the frame is just the right size for you. He’ll sell frame or complete bike.

    No messing him about tho.

how much money do you have available?

I wouldnt pay a c1200+ for a (say) two year old carbon frame when youve got the likes of Meta v4 for cheaper new.

More so if it has damage/chain slap under and around both sides off the BB/chainstay like the one currently on ebay.

I understand they cost crazy overinflated prices here in the UK (yeah cheers Stif) new which affects an owners pricing used though.

If i was looking at 1200+ for a couple year old used SC frame I’d run into the arms of a Capra.

If the SC was a 2011/2012 – I would offer alot less (as others would)

Those are fair conments I feel. If he was hoping for 1300+ and its two years old it’d have a smaller pool of potential buyers.

    I **** wouldnt be one 8)

Wow! That’s a whole load of completely unsubstantiated assumptions to make.
Pristine = brand new warranty replacement but as I said, if you don’t have the cash I won’t be wasting his time anyway.

good luck finding a better deal

‘If you dont have the cash’

    You mean hes asking alot.

If its completely unused- how much? Its a 26’er frame. Yes you can 650b it but its c3mm of clearance from the seat tube on full compression? You probably know more but I’d want to run maxxis tyres.

Over a grand on a 26er frame botched to run 650b?

    Mtbel I assume you agree.

If it was genuinely 650b without botching I’d pay. As would anyone. Hence what is it really worth as its really a 26er frame.

Hora – if its the frame you want why the desire to jump on 650b? Just stick some decent 26″ wheels on there and forget about the hype.

Bandit. But they are tiny. I’m 5’10 and the large is a good fit.i paid £400 for mine S/H.

I’m happy with my Ragley. I just keep riding it. I sort of think that that’s what ‘haapy’ means in this context. Do you actually mean ‘unhappy’?

If a large bandit is anything to go by, a small bandit would be more like a BMX.

I’m not unhappy on it. Every so often I’ll bump into someone who ultra-bling or ride with someone on bling. It kinda gives you a pang doesn’t it?

It normally happens if I start my rides at sane o’clock (like last weekend) so I get to see lots of riders on the trails. Usually I’m back at the car before the warriors arrive 8)

For reference my large bandit is about a foot shorter than my mates XL nomad, but then that takes long and slack to an extreme…

    Hora,
I’m 6ft and the Large 26″ Bandit was just right for me.
The 650B was similar size but I think someof the geometry is different.

I’ll keep a lookout for the Bandit as a next one- it keeps popping up. So hopefully at somepoint there’ll be an odd deal to be had when the time is right.

Bling isn’t all it’s made out to be though is it?

I much prefer riding my aging Prince Albert – rigid & kitted out from the spares box (8×3 alivio stuff) than riding my supposed ti bike for life 🙁

True. I’ll wait for a secondhand one. 😀

Wont be mtbels though. Thats too much for my big-wheeled pocket 😆 😀

    No, it doesn’t.

Reformed serial bike swapper here. The first step is admitting you have a problem. I think you know that already Hora – ‘cos you seem to admit that you’re not looking for the perfect bike, just the “next” one.

Anyway, as long as your family aren’t starving you crack on if you want.

Never make assumptions as far as I’m concerned Hora.

Most of what you type on here regarding bicycles is utter nonsense based on nothing more than stupidity and fashionable jargon. It’s rarely even worth reading nevermind commenting on.

No, not really. I upgrade components pretty regularly and with a mild hint of obsessiveness, but the craze for whatever the latest ‘Jesus bike’ passes me by pretty much completely.
