    Hi,

recently moved to a new area. Don’t know anybody who rides down here (Plymouth)and as I have 2 children at or under 2yrs old. I cannot commit to groups or group rides very easily.

can anyone recommend to me a GPS that works well with mountain bikes like a car style sat nav and can have maps uploaded to it?

    cheers

Smartphone in a case. It’s just easier

I’d have a look at the Satmap Active 12, very good, intuitive unit, but it’s pricey and won’t do turn-by-turn nav if that’s what you want. Or a smartphone in a waterproof case and an app like ViewRanger maybe.

I will need turn by turn.

my knowledge of Dartmoor and any other places round here will be minimal.
I will download that viewranger and see what it is about.

Yep, they have a website called myviewranger.com and you can upload and download routes at will in GPX form.

plus viewranger have loads of routes others have loaded already. I think all of MBUK’s routes are on there for what it’s worth (about 3p and a half sucked gobstopper)

    super thank guys.

I had found mtbsharp.co.uk but not sure when it was last updated and the routes on their seemed to just open up some weird code…
