  • What makes a good Whisky glass? Present advice required.

It’s a friends 30th birthday and as he likes whisky I thought I’d buy him a pair of whisky glasses (his other half has confirmed this should be a welcome gift).

However, I don’t drink whisky, so have no idea what makes a good glass. Any advice/opinions from the drinkers here?

Right, I’ll just ‘borrow’ two of them from the pub tonight 🙂

You’re probably thinking of a cut lead crystal tumbler, which would make a nice gift, but the reality is the £5 Glencairn whisky glass is the right tool for the job.

Still, a nice gift if he doesn’t already have one and will mark you out as a gentleman who knows his onions…and his whisky glasses.

    Seems obvious but, good whisky.

Concur with RS above – add a bottle if a couple of those is too cheap.

Cheers guys. Will get some of them then.

Are whisky stones just a gimmick or do people use them over ice cubes?

Now you’re talking…get him a copy of 101 Whiskys to try before You Die and as an added touch, make sure the whisky is one from the book!

I’ve got one of them Glencairn classes branded Lagavulin that came in a gift box with a bottle, maybe you could get the same of his favorite tipple? Or get one etched with his name?

Do you plan on questioning his parentage as well? 😉

Cooling your whisky is a contentious issue!

Right, will leave the stones alone and follow Rusty’s advice.

    Cheers all.
