Time has come to replace my 105 disc brake pads. I usually use Uber sintered on my Mtb and am happy with them.  What is the usual wisdom for the road.  Seems Uber I can get race matrix or sintered. Shimano resin or sintered.  I assume they came with resin which have lasted 2 years (rears more worn than front it seems), but will have them out to check.

I’ve always used kevlar in mine (well, and whatever came fitted originally), always find it’s a good balance. Race Matrix I reckon would be good too- I hated them for hard use, so inconsistent, but for road bike use they’d probably be fine.

Shimano do a “new” resin which is much quieter than their old version. Apparently they last longer but haven’t noticed much difference. Quite a lot of brake dust though.

Resin every time for me – Sintered just howl.

Resin in mine – quiet, smooth braking and long lasting too.

Looks pretty unanimous then.  Now off to find the best place to get some Shimano finned resin.
