im doing ok against other mates with e-mtb’s in our little challenges

That sounds a bit like a cookery competition where you all show up with a takeaway 😉

Probably carb loading would be my best event as I’m not fit enough for xc, don’t have the stamina for endurance events, never ridden a BMX in my life, haven’t got the balls for DH, so that leaves enduro. Never done one, but pretty sure I`d be amazing at it 😉

hillingdon, Abingdon etc, you know short circuit multi-lap road bike events. 60 mins or so flat out… it’s quite popular on here.

So, capture it under ‘Road’ then, it’s all on tarmac, on a drop barred bike.

Then we’ll put DH, XC, trials, 4X, DJ and everything else under “off-road”, yeah? It’s all on dirt, on a broadly flat-barred bike.

Really guys ? We’re going to get all pedantic about a couple of random catagories i wrote ?

Technical climbing – unfortunately there isn’t an event for that 🙁

Same think I’d do quite well at that.

Lol we all enjoy it and even some of our non e-mtb mates are borrowing e-mtbs and joining in, some of them are super fit on a normal bike and are surprised that they can still knacker themselves out on an e-mtb

Long distance road riding. So it makes complete sense that the only events I’ve entered this year are all the rounds of the Welsh Enduro Series!

I can do long distances quite well, on the road I’ll never win a bunch sprint or be first up a climb, but I can sit on the front for a while and give out a little hurt. I recover pretty well so multi-day events work well for me.

Off road it’s techy climbs, my handling skills are pretty good but I’m to much of a coward to use them downhill so up hill it is. Does that mean it’s XC is my thing? I guess so.

    So… serious answer time..

I’d probably excel at XC racing (short course and up to 6 hour endurance), and do fairly well in Enduros too.. Was 3rd on HT at the EX last year, 7th HT at Ard Rock a few years back too..

I’d probably do OK at DH if I had a DH bike!

I like road riding, but have lost fitness/bulked up a bit from my rapid hey day (late 2013!!)

But also, I just like twatting about on the fixie. Fixietwatting… that’s a new category for you..

My specialist skill is asking a very open ended question to my riding mates at the bottom of a long climb. They climb and talk whilst i climb and nod. If they answer too quickly a short “why is that?” should see me for a couple more minutes.

the english bunny hop. I did a skills course last year and the coach said it was surprisingly effective and refined, if deeply unfashionable.

Serious(ish) answer would be 4X > DH > BMX > Enduro > XC > road stuff (if I absolutely must, like if-someone’s-holding-a-gun-to-my-OH’s-head-and-he-hasn’t-annoyed-me-for-a-month must). I prefer short-ish sprinty races but I can ride for hours at a steady potter via assorted pubs. Actually, thinking about it, there should be a multi-discipline event where you can only use one bike for the whole thing, sort of like the original supermoto races BITD…

king/Queen of Crankworks sorts out the multi comp thing.
But I’m not sure why you’d like it to be all on the one bike for all the events?

some folk used to ride Nationals on one bike and race Xc and DH on consecutive days at the ones that had both on the same weekend.
I used to really like heckling the XCers when we were meant to be practicing DH.
    It’s aw bikes eh?

Virtugo turbo app thinks my forte would be TTing, but for the last ~20 months I’ve been a hill climbing addict despite being ~80Kg; having an FTP of ~298W and just about managing ~500W for ~70 seconds on a very good day for middle aged me.

Today wasn’t a good power day, but nice to spend some time on cat4 hills in the sunshine!

What about all the other disciplines?
    Cycle Speedway
    TT (short/long distance)
    Track sprint events
    Track endurance events
    HC
    Trials
    XC Marathon

Must be a few more. It’s going to take a while to stage this tournament!
