    Building a rat cx bike, have a pair of speed king 35s but one’s well past it, will be used in the slop but also need to be lakes slate proof. Put the decent SK on the back and something spikier on the front? New to this cx malarkey so totally clueless…..

    Slate proof and slop compatable is moon on a stick stuff.

    Slate = Land Cruiser
    Slop = Clement PDX

    Most CX racers will select from a range to suit conditions.

    Tubeless would add some pinch protection.

    Wild card = G One ?

    I have Clement PDX and really rate them as a great all round tyre.

    Vittoria Cross XL or XM. The latter if it is really muddy. But there are tube and tubeless version. Clement PDX didn’t shed claggy mud well for me but I use them if faster rolling is required.

    And I’m way too tight to go for Limus or Grifo because I ride road/gravel, which wears them prematurely, to get to where I would ride cross
