Seen at the side of stages, particularly larger ones. Anyone know what they are?

That’s what I suspect they are, but someone must know for sure!

The A 5000-CP passive antenna provides an optimum solution for both transmitting and receiving RF signals throughout the UHF spectrum. Installations have demonstrated that the circular polarization of this antenna minimizes variations in signal strength and almost eliminates multipath problems, a primary cause dropouts. The gain of this antenna over the entire UHF band is superior to common `off the shelf’ antennas.

That’s a great explanation, but I still don’t know what they are, but then again I never asked.

It transmits and receives wireless signals, from microphones etc. Simple, really.

Not sure about the tape, mind you!

I reckon transmitters for in ear monitors. That looks like a sound desk onstage which is most likely the dedicated monitor desk.

They look after the “foldback” of channels of sound and vocals to each member of the band so they can hear each other.

Can ask some super nerdy noiseboy chums to confirm.

Protective domes for the wireless personal monitors and microphones, as cbike says:

They light up at strategic points during overwrought solos to remind the guitarist which facial expression to adopt.

They’re designed to attract cameras. So that dickheads don’t hold them up in front of people when the band is on 😀
