Still here, despite a couple of dicey encounters with shop music and a cafe that gave us The Wombles and Cliff but not, fortunately, Wham.
Last year I copped it in October, courtesy of a trip to Fenwicks’ kitchen shop which happened to be next to their “Christmas” shop. Yes, before Hallowe’en.

Only counts from December 1st tho innit?
So if you heard it in October, that’s irrelevant to the game.

Still in. 3 trips to town, 3 to supermarket and one extended garden centre visit. Oh, an evening out in London too.

Is it being played less this year?

I kind of play along with this but don’t go out of my way to play it. I’ve been Christmas shopping, had days out in bars, a Christmas party and the radio playing at work. Not hit at all until last night. Went to watch the football club, they had Christmas tunes on. 😂

I only listen to heart70s/absolute70s…. No xmas songs..

well that and Solar Radio when in the garage.

OT, I’m another Solar Radio listener. Would guess there aren’t many more here.

Went to Caldwell’s Mill cafe, in Rowsley near Bakewell on today’s gravel ride. The shop playlist included A Wombling Merry Christmas, Johnah Louis and that travesty of a Christmas version of 3 Lions, (something of a piss-take given last nights result!) but no Wham.

I was convinced I was going to get it, but live to fight another day. 👍

Bugger. 6 minutes past midnight 14th Des. OJ Borg. normally a purveyor of decent music starts his show straight from the news. No warning. No intro. Wham Bang thank you Mam.

    I’m OOOT 🙁

TBF this has been my best showing since forever

Into the danger zone yesterday as I had to do a stealth run of Tesco. Got away with it though.

Other half keeps changing the kitchen station from 6 to 2,so I’m in constant jeopardy.

    Need to go to ground

In the pub last night before our work Christmas curry, and there was a compilation of cheesy Christmas music playing… Thought I was for it, but nope, I live to fight another day.

Does it have to be the Wham original or are covers included?

    I believe you’re safe if you’ve heard a cover.

I spoke too soon. I sometimes share an office with a colleague who listens to Radio 2… I thought that might get me, though he works from home most days, and I’m mostly in the lab at the moment. But this afternoon, I heard what I was hoping might be a cover, quietly, in the background of our conversation. Just looked back at the playlist, and it was indeed Ridgeley and Co. Rats.

Uh oh. there’s a Christmas tunes playlist jingle-belling away in the office. I fear it’s just a matter of time….

(currently Jonah Lewis, Stop the Cavalry).

Out for a meal tonight, what’s the chances…? (posh restaurant, so chances are probably better than in maccys…)

Still not heard it but I work from home and listen to 6Music or Internet radio plus the local Morrisons and Aldi don’t play music

Still in here too, despite living dangerously for a short period in Telford Town Centre shops for 45 mins (as long as I could stomach the place) last week. WFH for most of the time, combined with Planet Rock in the car on the few days I have been to the office, has been a good bet. However, tomorrow involves a 200+ mile drive to Suffolk, and Mrs Lawman will probably require Radio2 in the car for a fair proportion of the journey. That may be my undoing, I fear.

I was worried at a Christmas quiz when they started a Christmas music round.

Other than that I’ve not really heard much Christmas music in Spain, although the local radio do tend to play a lot of English language tunes.

They’re all about the the Kings here 🙂

They also seem to favour Belens over Chrissy Tress (the heathens).

Saw this thread pop up and realised I’m still in! The usual technique of no radio and avoiding shops that play music is working well.

Still in too, first time I’ve made it past the first week in December. A change of job has helped where I don’t have to listen to R2 or be subjected to the pap on R1 in the workshop 😁

Still in…just…. 2 cover versions and running away when the radio said they were about to play a song by Wham.

But its been feeling like a game of Russian Roulette every time I leave the house car/shop/supermarket

Thought I’d lost the fight in the Wellington Centre in Aldershot this afternoon. Luckily it was their own music tracks being played throughout the centre. Still in then.

Still in. A carefully curated combination of Radio4, metal playlists, Xbox and selective Netflix viewing has kept it at bay despite trips to two of Southampton’s large shopping centres in the last week.

Despite attempting Russian whamlette in the work pool car for a week, and Christmas songs being played at the ski area, I’m still in. I almost suiwhammed at home by starting a Christmas station on Amazon. Before sense kicked in and I chnaged to a playlist and skipped the song of doom. I’m so close.
