What’s transpiring dudes & dudesses?

A few of us are heading out from Ford ( a small Northumberland village north of Wooler ) ..out towards and over to Holy Island ..or Lindisfarne if you prefer ..the tide times are in our favour 8.55am to 4.30 pm .

Probably a spot of lunch on the island then a return via St.Cuthberts Cave & the farm at Doddington which makes the excellent ice cream and  you can purchase it paying into  an honesty box ..there is also  a life sized plastic cow there ..or there used to be which is very photogenic ..

    Pics to follow

Where are you off to ?

Two rides today (the genuine joys of half term as a teacher). One quick slightly muddy one this morning to set up a motion triggered camera on the trail that’s seen a fair few nail traps recently, then a relatively relaxed – and much drier – solo bimble in the woods this afternoon.

Escaped by myself to the Fairbourne/Barmouth area for a couple of days..Nice to get the fatty on the sand.

Took a razz up Cadair Idris today. Stunning 360 panoramic views at the summit.

    Untitled by kayak23, on Flickr

The descent off the summit was pretty challenging on a rigid fatbike.

    Untitled by kayak23, on Flickr

Then the fog cleared for a while and it was epic!

Can’t decide what to ride tomorrow. Might just go to Coed Y B.

Fair play riding Cadair on a fat-bike! It was clear the day we went up. I was glad to be riding a 160mm FS on the way down! Especially the top section.

My mate Ian’s stag weekend pre-ride at Afan yesterday. On my Solaris!

Mostly dry after the rain we had Thursday was a happy surprise

Hoping to get down to Cwmcarn Sunday. Expect it’ll be wet in the FoD for a few days…

20 miles up bluebell hill, plenty of mud around, trails are pretty slippery, especially the off camber rooty ones! Seeing good improvements in my fitness, I still had energy left after 20 miles and 1600ft of climbing!

Currently negotiating for an afternoon in the Peak tomorrow…this may end up being downgraded to an evening at Cannock ☹️ if it is it’ll be a **** long one.

Easy 10 miles on the gravel bike with the little fella on the back. For various reasons this is the furthest I’ve ridden this year, which is tragic but made today even more special. Our second child is due this Friday so I’ve enjoyed a last weekend of (relative) freedom.

A quick calculation that having the boy in tow more than doubles the weight of the bike. This was in and around Lymington in Hampshire…

Fantastic ” social ” ride with some great cheeky riding …in excess of 30 miles and the legs were feeling it last night !

Thanks to Russell and his son Andrew ( who joined on the outward leg ) and the oldest naughty schoolboy in the world ..Jaco 😁

Me and my lad who’s 9 years old just did a 42km bicycle ride. He got all excited and spent part of it chasing some guy then sitting on his wheel in slipstream before scooting past and leaving him for dead.

Took the FlareMax to Fochabers intending to give it its first taste of a trail centre, but it was far too nice a day to waste racing everywhere. So (after bagging a couple of PRs) I went for a spin along the Spey to watch the swifts skimming the water for a bit.

Well Cwmcarn was drier than Afan on Friday. I say dry, but what it actually was was dusty. Shame so much of it is closed at the moment due to logging. Rode what we could, and every trail was fab. It seems my new bike is quicker almost everywhere which since I’ve ridden these trails (with Strava) for 7+ years is nice to see.

Mate riding my RipMo properly 🙂

Road only this weekend for me. Little 25km round Saddleworth, including some horrible steep bits, on Saturday and nice 60km loop up to Hebden and Cragg Vale today.

No pics, I didn’t stop on either of the rides!

We went out early onto Cutgate to miss the walkers and joggers and to get parked at Langsett Barn. It was as dry as I have seen it in a long time. North America was fast on the way back with no mud about.

Got back home and took the dog out local

Had a nice ride on the Chase Saturday with the wife, well apart from the part where I binned it and tore my new shorts on one of the black sections. Then a solo ride in the Peak on Sunday, it was hot, really hot!
