The snow started last night and didn’t stop, it was crazy.
I got up this morning at 08.30 and the thaw had just started.
On the hack up through Weir I stopped for a coffee at Anna’s and a local farmer said that the latest he had sen snow like today was previously 14th April a few years ago.
Getting out in the Camino is great fun snd the good mix of road and gravel was great today
Forest of dean today interesting conditions dust berms/puddles slick mud bit of hail not a lot Dowies and Bluebell running well fair few people about did not know you could have 10 to 15 meeting outdoors yet!!!!!!!!!!!!AH well soon be bloody locked down again idiots.
Went and did the old lockdown loop I’ve been doing for ages, this time though I did it because I wanted to rather than it being the only option. Glad I did as a mate said that the trail centres and the regular natural stuff was all heaving. Think I saw 3 other riders in 20 miles! One but that has been diverted for the last 3 weeks no longer has trees though.
Will venture out to the wilds of the Beacons midweek and avoid the crowds then!
My son and I explored a bit further today, heading up Glen Finglass, then ‘Round the Hill’ (Meall Cala) and back.
Not at all techy, all double track, was more than a little over-biked on the Pole, however an enjoyable morning. Some fairly bastardly climbs, and quite a few breathtaking views. Nae bad.
Met family at Comrie after descending off the hills behind, wife video-d the wee man chasing me round the pump track, suffice to say after 60km of tough gravel and a few weeks of back pain I wasn’t exactly flowing, will spare the internet that one…
Stretched our local East Ayrshire hilltop loop a bit further over toward Moniave and the Striding Arches. Hopefully just a couple more weeks and we can travel further within Scotland.
(Not pictured – temp around freezing out of the sun, Lorne sausage on home made baps, home made millionaires cake and the nicest Brazilian Aassondantas coffee for lunch).
It’s eerily quiet here too – it’s still school holiday for most as well. A85 I would normally avoid, but today we had about 6 cars, two cyclists and 3 motor bikes pass us by in 7 miles. The south loch road was one car (police) and one other cyclist….
We didn’t see anyone on the trails yesterday and today saw a farmer rounding sheep with his dog and a jogger. Come the weekend it will be heaving but we will have left by then 😎
