If you know what you’re doing I can recommend http://www.EvoRack.com for a dedicated VPS. Cheap as chips and usually no problems.

Edit: Of course as soon as I put that up, I notice their server is down. #Fail

Are these kind of thing any good? Been looking around for one and seen a lot of ads

I use Fasthosts for my email and web hosting. Choice of Windows or Linux servers and very easy to install things like WordPress.

That said I think they are all much of a muchness (apart from 1and1 – they are crap).

First things first: Work out how much extra income you can make from a website. Spend LESS than this.
