So I’m starting a small business and need to sort out a simple web presence and am a bit stuck on who to use / where to start.

can anyone point me in the right direction for the best way to achieve the following?

    – register a Co.uk domain to be used for email and a simple website

    – a web host that can use my domain name and give me tools to create a simple professional website that’s likely to run to a few pages / sub pages of text and images?

    – I won’t be transacting via the web so no ecommerce required

    – I don’t want to get trapped by a low up front cost service that then locks me in long term e.g. by making it difficult for the domain name to be used to another host.

of the things I’ve looked at, wix and 1&1 seem ok, and there are a few providers that enable publishing via WordPress.  Are any of these worth a look?

oh, and anything to definitely avoid would be helpful to know.

    thanks!

Not sure there is much in it. Just watch out for cheap introductory offers that go up too much. I use one.com for my sites. They’ve been ok. £30 per year for email, hosting and domain. Easy to set up, let’s me use wordpress. Their help has been good too.
