I was out on Honeymoon in New York, and yup, we got caught up in Hurricane Sandy.

Due to this, our flight was cancelled, and we had to spend another 3 nights in the hotel.

The flight was changed for free, but we are out of pocket for the hotel.

I’m sure I read somewhere I can claim as it falls under EU Law? But never having done anything like this, can anyone give me any pointers?

I’m going to try and claim from the Airline Company..

    Cheers…

    travel insurance *might* cover that.
But they may well say it was outwith normal conditions.

It’s not a compensation ‘thing’ though, I’d have thought.

Claim you’re a devout Atheist, then it can’t be an ‘Act of God’ 😀

The French got in there first: force majeure

Teeto – the airline will claim this, though of course they could ahve tried to offer you another (unaffected) route home. Bet they didn’t do that….

also, speak to your travel insurance company, though like the article says, these are inherently crap contracts. More holes in an insurance contract that swiss cheese…

Hope the rest of the honeymoon was good – you’ll certainly not forget it..!
