I picked up a Vitus E Mythique LT VRX for around ½ price from the dying embers of CRC.

Now I wanted a Bafang motor because you can fix and tune them yourself with cheap spares available.

However, the M510s on the E Mythique seem to suffer badly from water ingress. Or at least some of them do.

Seeing as I have a brand new bike with no warranty I plan to strip the motor & electrics and waterproof things as much as possible.

Dielectric grease on all the connectors & a heavier waterproof grease around the crank seals for starters.

I’ve seen a few things on people waterproofing electronics with Corrosion X and thought about doing that to the controller & PCB inside the motor and also to the display.

Then it occurred to me I’ve already got ACF50, for motorcycle use, sitting on my garage shelf.

Will this do the same job?

    Any thoughts?

If it’s good enough for the air industry it’s probably good enough for bikes. Guess you got two choices – either spraying the PCB with acf-50 or some kind of non conforming spray.

Corrosion X is used on outboard engines a fair bit and gets good results.

If it’s good enough for the air industry it’s probably good enough for bikes.

TBH I see what you’re saying but I would suggest that a marine engine spends it’s life in harsher conditions than an airplane engine (always around moisture that happens to be mildly acidic)

    Thanks guys.

After this & a bit more research I’ll give the ACF50 a go.

    👍
