I need a new waterproof jacket… Anyone spotted any good deals, or able to recommend any. I quite like the look of the Altura attack featured in he mag. I’ve had gill jackets before and they’ve been ok, what else should I look at?

They are all the same more or less, juts get the one that you like the look of. My 30 quid dare2be gets used a lot more than my 400 quid gore-tex thing. As long as it’s got zips and you have a decent base layer, you’ll be fine.

1 for Endura Venturi. PTFE really is the most breathable stuff and very waterproof.

Look for gore active shell products. Using a haglofs endo for days in the hills. Very breathable, lightweight and minimalist with a very good fitting hood. I think the spire is the current equivalent. I’ve got a couple of paclite jackets and tend to use them at trail centres. Haglofs do a nice looking lim2 jacket. Very “fitted” tailoring and top quality seams/zips.
