So my e-mtb has a battery extender in the bottle cage and i don’t like camelbacks

Now carrying a water bottle in a pocket is quite bulky and once drunk you still have to carry the bulkiness with you

So i was wondering about a water pouch, kinda like a 500ml Capri Sun

Once drunk it could be rolled up or left flat in my pocket

Anyone use one and if so any recommendations?

Platypus? Think they do a half litre one. I’ve had a couple of different ones for years.

I’ve also refilled Capri sun bottles for snowboarding, you can get one with a screw lid.

I have a Platypus soft water bottle and a Morvelo freebie one but rarely use them for riding.
I do however use a stem cell bag to carry a water bottle; another possible option?

Popular in running world as they stop the sloshing noise.

I have a pair of decathlon ones for my.running pack.

    They work.

    “Soft flask” is the term

I’ve got one from sports direct, works great clipped too a belt loop for walking or in a rucksack but I’m not sure it would be comfortable for a pocket when biking (or overly secure if this is mtb)

Also you’d probably need lots of them if you’re doing any distance, a bottle or two won’t last as long as your battery without the extender I’d imagine. By the time you want the extender I’d guess you’ll need a reasonable amount of water too which means a bag to carry them.

Maybe one of the bum bag type bags might be a better option if you don’t like a rucksack toe bag or some sort of frame bag/cage which doesn’t need mounts.

Loads of people do soft bottles in various sizes Decathlon, Osprey, Inov8, Salomon. I’ve got a Salomon version that I got in a sale once.

I’ve got one of these for every day use. Works ok, cheap as chips.

Cheers guys will look at soft flasks

As already said i dont like camelbacks or carrying anything on my back when riding and i don’t think i could live with some water bottle cages strapped to the front of the bike plus its a 180mm travel bike so space on the frame is limited, so the soft flask is the best option for me

The extender runs in tandem with the e mtb battery so they drain together, which gives me around 50 miles of range depending on settings and elevation etc… i normally only use a 500ml bottle on 50 mile road bike rides so 500ml on the e-mtb is plenty plus i can always find a water tap or a bike friendly shop to top up

I did have a platypus but it didn’t really scrunch up well, it had a shape it definitely wanted to be while these are so soft they can squish up anywhere. Only thing I’d change would be to make them take a standard coke bottle top size like some others do.

Like Peter I use a stem cell and a soft platypus bottle in my jersey pocket ,it’s true it dosent scrunch up you have to roll it not a hardship but if you want to be able to scrunch it up look at hydrapak soft flasks ,got one on my water filter and they go into any shape you want

So i bought two 500ml soft flasks from Sports direct for a whole £1 each

They are too big to carry in my pockets so i came up with this hack for days when i need hydration when using the battery extender

Not the prettiest but once drunk can be easily stored in the pocket
