Watches N+1…

I found and purchased a rather lovely and matching Zuludiver Seasalter for the Chris Ward:
Oooh nice, that’s better than the previous straps you posted up here, very nice indeed.
bobloFree Member@kato Just get one, they’re blimmin lovely. I think Neil has one too…
tall_martinFull MemberI thought its held sentimental value but it doesn’t really and I find I don’t wear it as much as I should.
“why not get both?” @tall_martin I just bought a Tudor GMT so don’t have the money to buy a new Seamaster straight off.
Sensible head on says don’t sell it and wait until I can afford to buy a new one, but I’m impatient once the seed has been sown!
Well, I’m going to suggest saving up again then. If you have the Tudor and the little worn quartz seamaster you have two “new” watches to wear while you save. Is there not some fancier version of the sea master you could get with the saving plus the quartz seamaster money? Some thing more limited?
My son inherited his great great grandfather s watch. He’s 2, I thought a 1920’s solid silver pocket watch would be worth loads. £100 on eBay! That particular watch sold by the boat load.
If you would like a return on the auto sea master in the future, just incase it’s not your forever watch, a less common version might be in more demand.
Nice things are nice. After I posted that last message, a bloke went past in a bright red vintage Ferrari. The driver looked very pleased with himself. I’m sure you would be just as pleased with a different version of a classic watch .
MurrayFull MemberIf it’s not got sentimental value, sell it.
I’ve got my dad’s Bulova Accutron – he’s still alive but gave it to me 20 years ago. It’s got sentimental value so I’ve had it serviced (a pain for tuning fork watches, not a lot of places can do it) and wear it. When he dies I’ll probably get his Rado ceramic but it’s not the same – I can remember him getting the Bulova in the 70s and being so proud of it.

In 2005 the boss of our small company – the one that started my career – sold it for £9m and held a party at his Surrey pad for all 25 employees. At 2:30am he showed us his new dark grey, red leather interior DB9 sitting in the garage, and let those interested sit inside and rev it. The smell, sound and hand stitched leather around the dash left a lasting impression on on me.
One day, I will own a luxury watch and it’ll be the watch that stops me buying any other Well, maybe…
neilnevillFree MemberIndeed I do bolo, and I agree it’s bloody lovely. I used ‘James Henry watches’. Google will find him, and got mine for £3600, which was an 18% discount at the time. RRP has gone up twice since. I’d been watching tz-uk for ages and either missing out (too slow) or felt some were asking a little too much. Eg some were up at £3800, and selling eventually. So bought new through James. As is often the case with tz, it goes in waves, but I was stunned to see the one at £3400 with extra strap take ages to sell.
derek_starshipFree MemberGood quality lasts. This Constellation is 30 years old. I bought it in August 1992 from WoS, King St. Manchester.
Window price was £525. I asked for a discount for cash and he knocked off £50. Can even remember the salesman’s name – Brian Potts!
MurrayFull MemberJust been in to look at a BB58 blue and an Omega Seamaster Diver 300 in white. I want to get a watch with the money that my mum left me, something tangible. They’re both really nice, I can’t decide which I prefer.
mikertroidFree MemberAnyone else like the look af the Tudor Black Bay Pro? Think that’ll be my N+1 soon….
KatoFull Member@boblo Tried on the black and the white SMP 300 today. Black is the safe choice but the white was a stunner!
Wife has said she’d buy it for my birthday and likes the white one more so that’s the choice made!
@Murray there’s quite size difference and a price difference between those two. It would be the SMP for mebobloFree MemberAye, buy it from the joint account… 😁
‘Good choice…’ as they say in pretentious restaurants. I would say that tho…
Pics on (left) wrist once bought ifyaplease. 👍
neilnevillFree MemberGood man Kato! And @Murray,, both good but don’t rule out the black bb58 or the standard BB if you are ok with the size of the SMP. If ok with that size and the SMP price then the pelagos is also worth a look. I would say that though, I have a blue pelagos and the White SMP
neilnevillFree MemberCan’t remember if I said already, I’ve put the SMP on s black sailcloth with white stitching which I think looks rather good. I like the LL look on the omega rubber but find rubber straps sweaty and I don’t like them, the sailcloth is a similar look though. Whilw fitting I had a play with my po bracelet. Since I have the 42mm po I thought the the bracelet might fit and it does… Almost. The end links are a perfect snug fit except the spring bar holes don’t line up and the bars won’t go in. I may get some new bars and try a little bend to the end, as in my view the po bracelet looks and wears very very well.
jeffFull MemberLooks like a nice update to the Casioak (finally)

PierreFull Member@Kato I guess it depends a lot on what you attach the sentimental value to. If you’re going to look at the new watch as a replacement of the old watch, and the new one will mean the same to you, I’d say sell it and treasure the new watch.
My father bought me a limited edition Swiss Army knife for my 18th birthday. I’ve managed to lose it twice, so have bought myself a replacement each time. Of course it’s not physically the same knife, but it still means the same to me… if that’s how you think you’ll feel about the new watch, why hang on to the old one?
nicko74Full MemberGood to see this thread still running strong!
My latest obsession has been Sinn divers, specifically the U50Bloomin lovely, very solid and made of U-Boat steel…
derek_starshipFree MemberThat Black Bay Pro is divine. I’d have it on the hybrid strap. Love it.
WallyFull MemberNicko74 – nice, quiet partial to a Sinn.
There was one on TZ that was full of oil to withstand huge pressures. Not exactly a DIY battery change then.gaidongFree MemberHi, I’ve had the Sinn UX (oil filled jobby). The battery life is 7-10 years, so service is not a big problem. It wore very well for a 5000m rated watch, 44mm diameter but only 13mm thick and sensible lug to lug. Sold coz Explorer…

As production’s almost complete, we thought you’d appreciate an update: the Singletrack watches should be delivered to us next month, assuming all goes to plan.
We are still seeing delays in manufacturing and transportation so this might still move unfortunately but we’ll keep you updated with a firm delivery date as soon as we have one.Below is a quick iPhone snap of the caseback just to give you an idea of how the caseback will look.
As soon as they’re delivered to us here, we’ll drop everything and start sending them out in order sequence, with earlier orders being delivered first. We’ve got some admin to do once they’re delivered but it should only take us a few days to deliver them all.
If you’ve moved house since you placed your order and haven’t already told us, please let us know.
As soon as your watch is packed and ready for despatch, you’ll get a confirmation email from our system and then an email from DPD once it enters their system so that you can track it along the way. DPD will provide you with an hour time slot so you know exactly when to expect delivery, and you can arrange re-delivery etc via the same email if you need to.
The DPD tracking number will go live the morning after the confirmation email, once the parcel has been collected and has been received at DPD’s hub.
If your watch is being delivered overseas, delivery will be via DHL who will also provide a tracking number as soon as the parcel enters their system.
Thanks again for your support and for making this Special Project such a success. We’ll be in touch again soon with a confirmed delivery date.
Best regards,
Alex and Ian

I quite like the look of the new Casioaks – looks like they get a Japanese release mid May. As I’d really like a Moonswatch but figure I’ll have got over it by the time they’re actually available from Swatch online I might get a G Shock to cheer me up in the meantime 🙂

Sinn really don’t mess about – just the necessary parts and tolerances for the job. The fact that they can get 500m WR with the U50 (11m thick, no particularly special parts; and 5,000(!)m for the UX but still have it reasonably wearable with 44m/ 13mm dimensions is really a joy to see. Also, just checking but they say the UX case is rated to 12,000m, it’s just the movement is only rated to 5,000m. Wild!

I’m struggling to not buy a 5600/5610 on for no apparent reason. I know its a waste of money, and my self limiting watch box is full…

I might have to as well, destroyed my last G-Shock trying to change a battery through ham-fistedness and losing a little bit on a carpet the same colour as the little bit
I like the one in black with the little red hand
Harry_the_SpiderFull MemberHas anyone received the Ukraine NATO strap yet? I had an email last week saying that it had been dispatched 1st class, but so far nothing.

Not yet Andy, and I too was confused by an e-mail saying my order was complete, without it having shown up. So I e-mailed this morning and got a rapid reply saying there were 700 to pack and ship so they’re not a slick as normal! Told me they actually went yesterday, so maybe today sometime, possibly tomorrow.

Save yourself a few quid and go Casio

lungeFull MemberAnyone seen these. Seiko based homages to various more expensive brands. I think I quite like the Nautilus.
dmortsFull MemberI’ve been looking at blue dial watches recently, namely the Tissot PRX…. which I can’t decide if I actually like. I really like the waffle dial and the bracelet, not so sure about the case. I think it would look better on a larger wrist, which I don’t have
Also spotted this Seiko with an incredible dial

Not *exactly* a waste of money – after all, it’ll always be charged, ready to go and pretty bulletproof when you need it for a tough job! 😀
I’ve always liked the look of the Ti 5610 that looks to all intents and purposes like the original resin one, but it’s a bit tougher to justify £1.5k for one…nicko74Full Memberkilo

Love it – extra virgin olive oil!!
lungeFull MemberNot sure @kato. A blue Nautilus is very tempting but I’m not normally a fan of homage watches. Will leave one in my basket for a few days and have a think.

I’d be with you if I didn’t already have…
Although I don’t have a full digital in my collection. PSA on that btw at £224 of someone wants a GSteel.
tthewFull Member@dmorts – here’s my nice blue, (well blue-grey) Seiko, with the Ukraine NATO which arrived about quarter of an hour ago.
Kryton57Full MemberI should have ordered one of those. I am toying with selling the Vostock with 100% donation to Ukraine instead. I know its a political thing, but I am torn as I like the watch and is it any worse than owning a Laco etc….
