Just the tyres? I’ve washed a whole bike in the bath.

I used to work in a hotel in the lakes, there was a very convenient disabled shower which was used for washing bikes, kit and rider after very wet rides, before going back to the accommodation.

I cycled to Manchester one winter weekend and the roads were wet and salty. What could be more natural than giving my beloved bike a nice warm soapy shower to wash the salt off?

I’m not known for being particularly fussy about a clean bike but there are a number of tree diseases that may be spread by cyclists and walkers. If I’m only riding in my local area, the bike tends to stay dirty but if I’m going somewhere else I’ll clean the tyres before and after. A bucket of water and a sponge will suffice.

What bubble bath for cleaning tyres . . .
