I bought a new washing machine from a high street retailer.

After a couple of uses the door locking mechanism is now not working properly.

Seems like a manufacturing issue to me.

The machine has manufacturers 2 year warranty.

Which should be my first port of call, the retailer or the manufacturer?

    Retailer.

    …unless it’s from Comet 8)

the people you bought it off. nothing is stopping you going for the manufacturer though it’s generally quicker to just go back to the retailer as most manufacturers won’t deal with joe public and tell you to go to the retailer.

Jamie, yes it is from Comet! Surely whilst the doors are open they still have a responsibility?

From Comets own web site (always a good place to look for information about things bought from Comet).

“An item I bought from Comet has become faulty, who do I contact?
You should contact the Comet Customer Support Centre on 0844 800 95 95 and select option 3 and follow the voice prompts which will direct you to the relevant repair agent.”

They were very pleasant but told me to phone Panasonic. Apparently this would also have been the way it went regardless of administration.
