Posted 12 years agoI liked it despite the presence of Cruise
Posted 12 years agoTo be honest, Ireally preferred the original, the recent re-creation is more about the spec effects..
Posted 12 years ago‘s alright. Not brilliant, but alright.
Then again, I’m a huge fan of the Jeff Wayne version, if only for Richard Burton’s voice.
Posted 12 years agoI think the first half is tremendous, then it gets daft.
Posted 12 years agoEasy to watch sc-fi action film.
Posted 12 years agoah ok I’ll give it a go.
thanks.
Posted 12 years agoI thought it was really, really awful.
Posted 12 years ago1st half was OK with some good effects
The 2nd half just petered out
Posted 12 years agoI second flyingmonkeycorps. I thought it was terrible.
Posted 12 years agoEdited highlights here, clicky
Posted 12 years agothe original is way better, the new one really is a let down

i’d love a forbiden planet remake buy they would probably cast it with keanu and **** it up tooNot bad, bears some resemblance to the book. (about all you can ask from Hollywood)
Posted 12 years agoit was rubbish imo
Posted 12 years agoThought it was alright.

IMHO its a sci-fi movie so I expect special effects and, being a ‘Hollywood blockbuster’, I expect them to be good quality. I’ve seen the original but the special effects are obviously now dated so I don’t find it as watchable and both follow the same basic plot.
Posted 12 years agoshocking american version. Girl screams all of the way through.
listen to the album instead!
Posted 12 years agoHow many of you have read the book?

Well the original survived having Leslie Nielsen in it so it wouldn’t necessarily be a disaster.
Posted 12 years agoI’ve read the book (about 40 years ago mind)
The original stars were Gene Barry & Ann Robinson. The film not the radio broadcast.
Posted 12 years agoi thought the spcial effects were great, and the general look and style of the film, and the broken family storyline superimposed over the top is just about bearable until the stupid hollywood ending.
Has anyone seen the Jeff Wayne musical version? Its on at the o2 arena and looks great, tempted to get tickets!
Posted 12 years agoI’ve read the book and it’s superb. Skip the film and get back to the original medium; much, much better.
Posted 12 years agoI like the Black & White version … more relax I guess.
🙂
Posted 12 years agoIn the book the aliens land at the bottom of my road (Horsel Common, Woking). Was most disappointed when they didn’t in the film

😕Thought I had the book somewhere
The latest film follows the tripod theme unlike the 1953 version. However, special effects apart, the 53 version gets my vote.
