So after unfortunately being left up the creek with no paddles, I will now be jobless from the 23rd of this month.

If anyone has anything available please let me know at ands43 @ hotmail .com and I’ll let you know if I think can do it or not. I can’t fly planes or perform brain surgery but anything else let me know and I’ll forward you my CV

    Kind regards Andy

Hmmmm, yeah I need one of them again ASAP! In Worcester if possible if anyone has one, preferably about 20-30 hours a week as most likely will be at uni 1-2 days a week…

Hi I live in Cambridgeshire but have no mortgage or commitments as such, so I can move around reasonably easily. I can email people my CV which has my skills on it, actually I’ll just post it here.

I like that chaps approach ioio!! 🙂

vinnyeh, the guiding job just fell through this afternoon which is unfortunate having handed in my notice!! lol! I may email a couple of other guiding companies although I imagine they are good for guides.

I would quite like an outside or manual/craft based job, although my recent experience is office based.

    Personal Statement
Passionate British designer looking to create a positive effect on a companies products. Experienced in creating award winning designs and communicating ideas in presentation for industry leading clients. Ability to problem solve and produce memorable concepts, that take into consideration the companies current values and respond to their future philosophies.

    Employment History/Work Experience

    2009 – Present – Garden Lodges
My main duty is to design bespoke garden offices/studios for both private clients alongside public sector, producing presentable images and technical drawings. I am responsible for a number of product lines and work alongside sales and production staff, to manage the delivery of our product in a tight time frame.

    2007 – 2009 – Korten
My specific responsibilities were to produce technical drawings and designs from the concept through to installation. I oversaw the manufacturing of exhibitions occasionally joining the workshop for installation. I always collaborated with clients and colleagues so we could produce a coherent product.

    2006 – Ercol
Ercol is a British furniture producer steeped in tradition. They asked us to design them a range of five pieces with a more contemporary angle than their existing ranges. At the end of my eight weeks working with them I presented my range through scale models, working drawings, sketchbook and a full scale prototype.

    2006 – Isokon
Isokon, manufacturers of classic and contemporary furniture, asked us to design a penguin donkey; the 1935 original by Egon Riss was designed solely to hold penguin books. This gave me the opportunity to look at current needs and introduced me to small scale batch production techniques such as kerfing and laminating.

    Education

2005 – 2007 – Buckinghamshire Chilterns University, BA Hons Contemporary Furniture And Related Product Design.

2003 – 2005 – Buckinghamshire Chilterns University, HND Furniture Studies.

2002 – 2003 – Cambridge Regional College, BTEC Diploma Foundation Studies specialising in 3D design.

    Technical Skills
    • Quick hand sketching skills including drafting. Scale and full size prototyping skills.
    • Microsoft and Macintosh literate.
    • Good knowledge of producing production drawings using AutoCAD. Basic Vectorworks workplace experience.
    • In depth knowledge of SketchUp Pro including SU Podium rendering tool.
    • Commercial experience Adobe Creative Suite. (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat).
    • Enthusiastic to learn new software and techniques.

    Interests

My life away from design is spent cycling around the local hills and woodlands, I also enjoy skipping and racing the clock on the treadmill. I have fun visiting galleries and am especially interested in the work of the Impressionist painter Paul Cezanne and Josef Albers work exploring colour. When travelling I like to get lost in cities and shock myself with the different culture.

I can provide work examples and I’m willing and able to relocate.

Try Alan at Sierra Cycling, he was looking for a guide, not sure of the up to date situation though.

    Good luck.

    skipping?
    seriously?

lol! skipping is fun until you get to fast, great if you travel a lot as you can do it anywhere!

Have you checked whether you can withdraw your resignation?

Possibly it’s just not really fair on them as they were very reasonable with my leaving dates etc.

I saw the thread title and thought this was a ‘keyring gate’ post resurrected….

(and skipping is great. I do 3×5 every day – nice and fast, mixed patterns. Only those that lack the coordination, stamina and skill to skip would deride it)

I imagined skipping gaily (as in happly) down the road like child.

I’ll email you in a minute with the name of a company to try. I used to work there. I haven’t a clue if they need anyone, but your skillset above would fit in very well…

I can’t offer you a job, but i can offer some advice on your CV:

    Companies’

Put your technical skills in order of importance – e.g. i suspect people will care much less that you can use a mac and a pc, but would want to know what software you’re proficient in.

re. time at ercol – did anything come of your designs? What you’ve got in that part lacks impact.

    rephrase this:

My main duty is to design bespoke garden offices/studios for both private clients alongside public sector, producing presentable images and technical drawings

maybe something like “…for individuals, companies and organisations of varying size in both the public and private sectors”

    Suggest review your Personal Statement.

Should be company’s not companies. Delete the comma from after the word ‘concept’

Suggest hyphen for award winning i.e. award-winning

    Good luck in your search.

again, I can’t over you a job, but I can offer you a bit of advice.

Experienced in creating award winning designs

but nothing in your CV expands on this. I’d expect your job descriptions to go on to say what awards you won for what designs.

    good luck!

Good luck with the job hunt.

Thanks for all the advice I’ll make some change, but there is a point where you have to stop CV fiddling, I found it hard enough to get it on one sheet anyway!

    Thanks for the email vdubber67.

Do people know of Isokon I’m surprised. I didn’t have my work produced by Ercol although my friend did which was amazing considering they have Robin Day prototypes that never make the shop floor! Great factory in the chilterns and it backs on to jamiroquai’s house.

Thanks again for the help. 🙂

don’t know why but your ‘interests’ section annoys me. maybe make CV more skills based rather than ‘i worked here i did this’
