I have about 300 vinyl EPs in the garage, a legacy from the days when I was DJing and, due to a house move need to get rid of them. All the record collectors that I have spoken to don’t want them (they are pretty much exclusively early 00’s hard house and hard trance), so does anyone have any idea where I could take them that does not involve just dumping them at the tip? I mean, they were meant to be played and I would rather someone used them.

When I got rid of all my vinyl (mostly 90s indie) also during a house move I took them all to Oxfam.

They have specialist record shops, and a website to sell music through nowadays.

You can even sign up with a donation tracking number to find out how much they made from them.

Have a look on discogs, see if any are worth anything? I doubt you want to package and post off 300 12″s though!

Sounds like a charity shop or dump job to me…

    Hi,

I or some people I know might be very very interested.

Can you provide some example artist names so I can check?

Dear nerd thank you for your donation you’ll be pleased to know your gift paid for a hand job for Brian in accounts.

could stick a job lot up on Gumtree, I’ve seen a few guys do that in the past.  Also Discogs as mentioned previously for any of the more collectible stuff.  Other thing I’ve done it he past is off load old records I don’t play to DJ’s just getting started, gives them something to spin and help hone their skill set, kinda like a pay it forward thing.  Never know when the DJ favor is repaid

I did think about that, but it’s not like giving an old tent to the scouts, or donating a kayak to the local club. I’m a bit older than I was when I played out and have no idea where all the younger, learning DJs hang out these days.

Hedley, it’s a lot of stuff like BK, Andy C, Nukleuz, Chocci, that sort of thing. If you want them, they are yours.

Could be an age thing  I do love vinyl but you would have to pay me to listen to trance or garage

Bowie,  Marley, Cat Stevens   Neil Young  Dylan etc

But everyone to their own  somebody will love it

    Hi willard,

thanks. I’ve messaged a producer I know who works with kids from deprived areas and helps them learn to DJ and produce music. It might be perfect for them. Will let you know when I hear back.

    Hi willard.

I’ve heard back and they say thank you very much for the offer but they will decline. I think their guys are into heavier more industrial stuff.

They do appreciate the offer and say it would be a fantastic start for a budding DJ.
