This one takes me back to the early 90s and elastomer sprung(?) forks …

I recently purchased a USE Vybe seatpost with a hard elastomer set up.

I’ve played with the preload but I’m still getting a proper top out thunk.

Despite being towards the **cough** top end **cough** of the hard weight category I’m not getting a huge amount of movement*  and with the more preload wound in the travel is becoming more on/off.

    What am I going wrong?

I used an original USE suspension post BITD and don’t recall such issues.

    *   I appreciate that it only needs to move a small amount to make a noticeable difference.

i doubt the internals are complex enough to avoid top out thunking – you need either a negative spring or decent rebound damping and from memory the internals of a use seatpost is just a basic elastomer?

@5lab – You are bang on – there are a couple of elastomers and a spring:

I’m just surprised that it doesn’t appear mentioned in any reviews – which makes me think its me 🙁
