As I sit here with my post-lunch cuppa, I’ve realised the thing lacking in my work-at-home life is a way of keeping my tea warm without having to resort to drinking out of insulated mugs and their fat lips.

Any recommendations?  I’ve seen some £3.99 jobs that would even replace my USB hub as well but, well, £3.99 suggests quality is going to be pretty poor.

If it goes cold give it 30 seconds in the microwave. Or drink it faster.

How long does it take you to drink it?! I would suggest not making it until you are ready for it 🙂

I had an idea years ago for a mug with a motion sensor that turned on a heating element so that you could leave your office for a few hours long lunch break, and if someone popped in to look for you, the element would turn on causing steam to come off your mug, making it look like you’d just popped out.

Standard USB is only 2.5W so I think you would struggle to warm up a mug with it.

Might be better putting a lid over your mug to keep the heat in as most of the heat lost is probably by evaporation.

    Or just drink it warm.

Cheaper option: Licking the end of a standard USB lead will numb your tongue, making the sensation of both cold and scalding hot tea identical.

Perhaps a mini-teacup-cosy made from one of those new-borns knitted hats we’re bound to have kept over from when the kids were tiny 🙂

BITD our company used to have Fujitsu laptops which output a constant stream of hot air from the side fan.  They may have been dog laptops but great for keeping tea that bit warmer!

Bone china cup or mug. They don’t all come with flowers on.

I’m not sure if its an apocryphal story but apparently at Apple there was a certain key employee that Steve Jobs really thought ought to be based Cupertino but who themselves felt they needed to be present elsewhere. So he just left a jacket hung over the back of a chair in an office in Cupertino.

Isn’t the british way to just down it like a 18 year old downing their 8th sambuca shot on a friday night, then give a quick shudder afterwards?
