    What’s out there?

I’ve got SB8’s at the moment and despite the tread they are quite possibly the draggiest tyres I’ve come across, they feel worse than the fat bike! The tread did however work surprisingly well yesterday in the Chilterns mud.

This is for the vagabond so being upto commuting miles trumps soft compounds and outright performance, What are the “performance” Schwalbe tyres like, I’m thinking the Rocket Ron might be about the right compromise (and only £15 each).

I just bought some 2.00 profile Dirty Dan’s for my 26″ HT They look comically old school but weigh in at less than 500g each and really cut through the mud yet are not draggy at all

Tried some on a demo bike, they were alright.

I reckon bontrager xr1s are a good shout. Ive ridden them in the mud, and theyre  surprisingly good but also felt fast to me on the tarmac.

I like Maxxis Ignitors but I don’t believe they’re universally popular.
