How the hell can his face be this colour yet around his ears is completely different!!
It’s a strangely familiar shade…

dissonanceFull MemberWhat is it with counting in America? Do they not learn how to do it in school?
Its a mix of things:
Some eg Nevada is simply down to the postal service. They counted everything they could yesterday and now are sitting around drinking coffee waiting for the next delivery.
Some seem to be rather complex procedures for checking off postal ballots.
Then there is also just the sheer amount of crap on some of those ballots. Think it was a Georgia one I saw on twitter. Had about 40 different things you had to vote for. Not sure whether they have to tick all of them off or if they are just doing presidential first but its going to be more of an arse to check than a sensible ballot.GrahamSFull MemberThink it was a Georgia one I saw on twitter. Yeah American ballots are insane. You often get to vote for the Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Chief, local librarian, etc on the same sheet. Plus they sometimes throw in random mini-referendum questions too!
rugbydickFull MemberDid I imagine it, or did Guilliani suggest that he wanted to see how many mail votes had been cast by people that had since died?
The Rep’s have also had someone elected to the Senate who’s dead. They died before the election started but they were still voted in…

another 6K votes counted, went about 73% to Biden, so Trump’s 18K is now closer to 14K
dazhFull MemberGeorgia looking a dead cert, and Purdue is now below 50% in the senate vote so a runoff looks inevitable. Pennsylvania looks very good too as most outstanding votes are from Philadelphia which is 80% Biden. The only way Trumps not going to lose is through legal challenges. The longer they go on and more desperate they look the more his support will drain away. The republicans will abandon him, the media will dump him (looks like Murdoch already has), and he’ll be left swinging in the wind alongside a bunch of qanon nutters and white supremacists. He’s f****. I just hope Biden isn’t tempted to do any deals to protect him from prosecution.

The form I saw was huge with all of the votes on the same piece of paper! You’d think they would have separate forms for each vote and separate boxes like we do, then they can count the presidential vote first and the others in order of importance.
But then that would be sensible.
PrinceJohnFull MemberA Pennsylvania court ruled that Trump campaign observers could stand closer to watch ballot processing in Philadelphia—a relatively inconsequential ruling that Trump campaign associates quickly touted as being a massive win. Votes that could decide the state are still being counted there.
No court has found wrongdoing in the ballot-counting process in Philadelphia.
“It allows their observers to stand a little closer, but it is not an order that will have any impact on the outcome of the election,” law professor and CNN elections analyst Franita Tolson said Thursday, noting that the decision was “not massive at all.”
From CNN – so weird…
funkmasterpFull MemberIt would be sensible to hold votes for Mayor, Sheriff, best cat etc at a different time.
Kryton57Full MemberThe only way Trumps not going to lose is through legal challenges
I just watched the lawsuit of Nevada being announced. My god, the “Team Trump” guy on the podium could have been character from a certain 1940-45 regime, what an arsehole.
They came up with lost of unevidenced reasons for miscounted ballots, pushed a nervous looking old lady and a black guy onto the podium to reel off some stories of woe then ushered them off before they could be asked questions.
a) some households have 18 ballots against their address
b) old lady’s vote counted democrat before she got to the voting office
c) black guy’s vote strongarmed.
#desparatenottogotojail
martinhutchFull MemberDunno, I’m not sure I can be arsed to queue for 11 hours next week to vote for best cat.
dazhFull MemberThe legal threat is a fantasy tbh. From the guardian live feed… 🙂
‘A Georgia judge has dismissed the Trump campaign’s lawsuit over absentee ballots in the state.
The president’s reelection campaign tried to argue election officials were attempting to count invalid ballots in Georgia.
When pressed for evidence of that claim, the Trump campaign could not produce any.’
cromolyollyFree Memberthe media will dump him (looks like Murdoch already has), and he’ll be left swinging in the wind al
As long as he’s got twitter, he’ll have presence. He managed to get around the media and it’s fact filter the first time by doing exactly that. His audience will read twitter and act based on that. As long as that’s true, he’ll be reported in in the media. Until he gets sent to club fed. No twitter allowed there.
funkmasterpFull MemberThe president’s reelection campaign tried to argue election officials were attempting to count invalid ballots in Georgia.
What a bastard. Not happy being a racist, misogynistic, incest curios turd. Now saying the vote of the disabled and infirm shouldn’t be counted.
cromolyollyFree MemberThe form I saw was huge with all of the votes on the same piece of paper!
Yeah but they usually have one box you can check for the party and they automatically count you as voting for all the candidates and cats associated with that party for every category.
Saves thinking about this stuff. Which tells you everything you need to know about the state of US politics
dazhFull MemberAs long as he’s got twitter
I wouldn’t be surprised if twitter delete him as soon as he’s beaten.
kelvinFull Memberwell sorry @Eminem for that. But that's the first instrumental track i thought about. pic.twitter.com/5uce3N3GSP

Although I want someone to use this…
binnersFull MemberLooking at the positives of all this, can we all agree that the star of this whole show has been ‘The Mooch’?
Anthony Scaramucci’s emergence as a political commentator and perennial PITA to Trump has been a joy to behold. I hope the BBC keeps using him for anything America related.
His bluntness is brilliant. This morning, when asked about Trump launching all these legal challenges he simply said “He can launch as many as he likes, he won’t win any!”
cromolyollyFree Memberwouldn’t be surprised if twitter delete him as soon as he’s beaten.
Posted 19 seconds agoThat’s be nice. Although would you notice one less turd in a sewage farm?
They could just charge him a dollar everyone he gets an automatic fact warning on a tweet. He’d be bankrupt, well, bankrupter, in a week.cromolyollyFree MemberLooking at the positives of all this, can we all agree that the star of this whole show has been ‘The Mooch’?

That’s perilously close to what they said about how the shouty pumpkin got to be prez.
Mooch is more in ’24 anyone?
nickcFull MemberEvery time I see that Paula White clip, it freaks me out just a little more
molgripsFree MemberOn a Twitter screenshot I saw some graphs for how the percentage has changed over time for each state – so it showed Biden catching up in Georgia for example. Does anyone have a link to a site that does them?
funkmasterpFull MemberEvery time I see that Paula White clip, it freaks me out just a little more
I’ve just watched it for the first time and it is genuinely disturbing.
KlunkFree MemberI guess the longer it drags on is better for Biden but this is excruciating !

grumFree MemberIt does seem like they are getting desperate. That Jason Miller guy’s Twitter feed is full of retweets of articles about spurious announcements they’ve made, as if somehow that proves the veracity of the announcement. Surely even dumb people can see what’s going on there.
whitestoneFree MemberThe perils of calling a result too early:
If Nevada is decisively Biden, as now seems likely, and everyone calls it, Fox is going to have a crazy tense decision about uncalling Arizona. Because, if they don’t, they got to call the whole thing.
Yes! No! Err, maybe …
kelvinFull MemberSurely even dumb people can see what’s going on there.
No… people fall for it if it’s repeated enough.
matt_outandaboutFull MemberIs it time to place bets on *how* Trump will take the news he is out?
Full flounce?
A week of refusal to step away from Twitter followed by midnight flit from the back entrance of white House and a taxi to Mar a Lago?
Legal fight for months?
Sit-in dirty protest in the oval office?maccruiskeenFull MemberIs it time to place bets on *how* Trump will take the news he is out?
Ha – I inadvertently posted an answer 1 second before you asked the question 🙂
scuttlerFull MemberRef Paula White clip I have to repost TheotherJonV from this morning
who’s the bloke in the background – he looks like me on a camping holiday heading off to the facilities for a shower and a shit?
Anyone any the wiser who he is?
tjagainFull MemberIs it time to place bets on *how* Trump will take the news he is out?
My money is on squatting in the white house and refusing to leave claiming he won. then Biden becomes president and federal police go in to remove him

I was thinking hype man but the towel has me leaning towards fluffer.

The importance is the voting not the counting – When you see the length of the queues at poling stations and the time commitment people have to make to vote its not a great idea to make the act of voting more time consuming by having multiple ballot papers and ballot boxes. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to count the votes – whats the difference if the result is announced in hours, days or weeks – its the same result. What matters is that voters vote as freely and easily as possible

Also, the counting looked mechanised from some of the news reports. Just feed one ballot paper in, numbers come out the end. Process seemed to be…
Big machine opens all the envelopes (some don’t work so done by hand);
Ballot papers removed, validated, put your hand up if issues -> they go off to another team for analysis, poll watchers swarm around checking all being done properly;
Stacked and loaded into counting machines;
Results then sent (via a USB stick!) to another office for more checks, tabulation and release. Not a quick process.

The last time I saw that sort of presentation it was Peter Popoff.

All of the recent Biden claimed States will be legally challenged by us for Voter Fraud and State Election Fraud. Plenty of proof – just check out the Media. WE WILL WIN! America First!
