CNN are saying that Georgia should get announced in the next hour or so.

In Related news yesterday, having opted out in 2017 the US ‘officially’ withdrew from the Paris climate agreement, So one of Trumps promised policies has been delivered three years later, on the eve of his (likely) defeat…

Best of all though, it was reported that if Biden wanted to opt back in (still assuming his victory), he only needs to give a months notice to the UN, I think some pressure needs to be put on to undo that particular Trump action ASAP…

You’d like to think that armed protests against vote counting might be the “Are we the baddies?” point for at least some of the less indoctrinated cult members.

I think at least some of the Rep’s have had a moment of realisation.
Probably not an “are we the baddies” moment, but at least some of the moderates will have noticed that aligning with Anger driven, conspiracy nuts who can be dog whistled into brandishing firearms at the basic democratic process, only serves to tarnish the party/cause they claim to support…

There are “bad losers” and then there’s the “Alt right”…

If Joe wins I expect his acceptance speech will be really touching.

He’s already said it will be one of the first things he’ll do.

And the most important. And his policies go beyond what Paris binds the USA to. For the rest of us, it’s the biggie as regards what happens next over there…

Having clicked on a few Twitter posts and read the comments, it staggers me how many pro trump posters seem to reference religion in their replies

I just can’t comprehend how any reasonable logic can correlate anything trump does or stands for with being a good christian.

Obviously I’m aware that those that call themselves good god fearing individuals are often in fact horrific self serving hypocrits, but it still staggers me how people can be so stupid.

I wish they’d hurry up over there, Melania needs to get her divorce papers filed.

For many it seems to being and end with the fact that Trump is (currently) an anti-abortionist.

(And of course for the QAnon folk there is the “fact” that Trump is waging a secret war against the baby-eating satanist pedos of Hollywood and the liberal elite).

lots see him as a “King Cyrus” figure (or at least that’s how they square that particular circle)

I’d say very interesting. Would like to see a UK map treated that way.

It’s all about the supreme court choices as well I think. They are hoping for repeal of Roe vs Wade etc

although in one state they are for vote counting (even though the only thing slowing down the counting is people getting concerned about the loons).
Wish there was a teleporter to get both groups and drop them into the middle of nowhere to shout at each other.

Ah I’m not the only one thinking that.

Pretty common on election night/morning – it’s why the more usual map is of constant sized hexagons or similar for our constituencies. UK constituencies are roughly the same population size in an attempt to get equal representations so the mapping makes sense.

Not the same… we sometimes see seat maps, with the seats being equalised in size… but that visual isn’t showing that.

Donald seems concerned about this too.

Yes, whilst US counties are more or less sized for area (AFAIK like French départements) because you needed to be able to get to your county hall in a reasonable amount of time for administration purposes. They were planned out that way, unlike our counties. That’s why our parliamentary constituencies don’t tally with administrative boundaries because none of the admin boundaries would make sense. It’s also why Highland constituency covers literally half of Scotland.

So I don’t keep checking the news all day, am I right in thinking we won’t hear anything new re. the counts till this evening?

Arizona imminent and Georgia expected today will that be early evening for us? Could be crowned president then, subject to a wisconsin, and possibly a georgia, recount

looks like a 100k votes still to count in Georgia and >59% needed for a Biden win…

@kelvin – that’s what I’m saying. The usual map is of equal sized constituencies but there are maps where the voting is displayed in a geographically correct manner. Then rather than have Orkney and Shetland in a box out they have London in one since there are so many constituencies packed in there they’d just be individual pixels on the overall map.

    One strange thing I’m seeing.

Fox News, a very Republican News Outlet is being far more confident of a Biden lead than CNN or New York Times. They already have Biden at 264 with Michigan and Arizona blue, and saying things like “Biden is close to being on his way to the White House”.

Reading their opinion pieces I get a sense Republicans are starting to distance themselves from Trump and citing their Party’s performance in the Senate and talking up their chances of taking the house in 2022.

I have been switching between CNN and Fox. I was watching Fox when Trump did his election night speech and first talking about stopping counts. When it cut back to the studio they were a bit lost for what to say.

Rupert Murdoch knows which way the wind is blowing. Fox have gone more lukewarm on Trump for a while now.

    Arizona imminent

AP called Arizona for Biden yesterday didn’t they?

Four years of Fox presenters defending the indefensible and they’re seeing a way out. Must be cathartic.

    Fox News….

There was something on the guardian yesterday regarding a call between Trump and Murdoch and how fox was behaving, Trump told Murdoch to reign his staff in on the Biden calls, apparently Murdoch said no and hung up.

He’s also said earlier in the campaign how he cant see Trump winning this election. Maybe even Murdoch has had enough of Trump

Last time infamously Trump won the electoral college but Clinton won the popular vote by a solid margin. My quick Google searches so far don’t seem to be revealing how the nationwide popular vote is looking this time, does anyone have numbers for it?

Biden looks to have won popular vote by about 4.5 million IIRC?

AZ could go for Trump, but Georgia & Nevada for Biden look v likely, as does PA 😁

If Trump does lose I can see him being abandoned very quickly by the GOP. He’ll still call his moronians to arms through Twitter though, and who knows how long that will go on?

jolmes – this is one of the many reports about trump calling Murdoch to complain about Fox calling Arizona for Biden.
