I had a Tesco down bag but have upgraded to an alpkit sky high 600. Given the difference in warmth and very little difference in size or weight of the two bagsi can’t see me using the tesco bag.

Do you think it would be possible to use the down to make something more useful like a gillet or jacket? I don’t have either and can sew ok.

Attach the down to a pet cat, dog or other mammal and fool all your friends into thinking you’ve trapped a four legged bird type thing.

Good plan – you could tar and feather something with it?

All good suggestions so far 🙄

Sound’s feasible, but you’d have to empty all the feathers first then re-stuff the new garment I’d have thought.

Interesting idea. I’ve stopped using my Tesco bag too.

How about down Booties! for when its a bit too chilly for you sky high 600. Should be relatively simple to sew?

I modded a down jacket some years back, the down went everywhere, nightmare.

Having said that a Tesco down bag is more likely to be more feather than down.

Leave the foot box but cut out the zip, mummy hood bit and some of the width narrowing the bag making it into down quilt. It should be quite a bit lighter and good for summer camping.

Sow then cut to avoid loosing the down / feathers.

I like the idea of tar and fethering a cat to try and convince people it is a new animal.

I think making something like a jacket will be alot of work but i like the idea of triming it down to a summer quilt. Not sure i would really use a summer quilt as most people team them up with a warm down jacket as i understand it and i don’t have one of those.
