happens quite a lot at work. I’m not good looking, but I can be caring/compassionate and I’m there when you need me etc. Never offended, just politely decline as I’m married. Speak to receptionists, find out her first name, leave her a bunch of flowers and ask for a drink. Worst case scenario a nice nurse gets a bunch of flowers.Posted 5 years agoTuckerUKMember
I’ve always been so reserved/shy/scared of rejection/lacking self-confidence that is has to go past being nice, past suggestive, past flirty, and pretty much right up to the lady suggesting a date.
Probably missed out on loads of nice ladies (the fact that I’m sen by those that don’t know me as offish, something that those that do know me find hilarious), but hey ho.Posted 5 years agohmanchesterMember
If you think the flower and note method is forward then you may be in trouble.
Saying that, now that you’ve missed your first opportunity, going back for a face to face might be a bit much.
I’d swap cheesy flowers for something topical / funny. Did you chat about anything specific?Posted 5 years agom0rkMember
Last time I went to A&E (which isn’t irregular) I was seen by ‘my’ lady doctor – bizarrely recognises me too
Best bit is that the injuries are usually torso related, so my wife gets the daggers out as she has her paws on me.
For you, just to be sure, many of the nurses live just the other side of Billing Road – best you go stare through the windows to see if any of them are her 🙂
Do it though, or something. The worst that can happen as said above is a nurse gets flowers, and your heart is crushedPosted 5 years ago
Rather suprisingly we talked about mountain bikes, although i did say i’d done myself in falling off my bike. She asked what my bike was, even venturing with “a specialised or a trek?” so she knows something about bikes. (ok, thats a bit like a psychic in a sceance asking “Is there a Dave in the room?” ) I also impressed her with my “hard man” act!
(hardman = not quite screaming like a girl when the Osteopath reduced my fracture without anesthetic)Posted 5 years agoandylMember
just keep injuring youself and going back in with new injuries until you get enough courage to ask her out. Maybe if you can hurt yourself enough to get morphine then it will give you dutch courage. Certainly made me enjoy the appendix examination the lovely blonde doctor (female) gave me when I was 18. Although I’m still not convinced that is a valid medical procedure for checking an appendix 😀
Avoid injuries that might put you out of action down there though. Unless you want to show it off in which case it would be an interesting ice breaker as she bandages it up…Posted 5 years ago
I broke my wrist at the weekend, went to A&E, got a put into a cast, came home. No real exciting story there, but:
The nurse who cast me was Lurvely! Really properly my kinda woman! Of course being the reserved proper chap i didn’t want to offend, so i didn’t really flirt obviously. Now i know that nurses are very good at making their patents feel at home, but the more i think about it, the more i think there might have been more than a purely professional attraction, on both parts (she wasn’t wearing a ring, and we chatted about loads of things including biking, but of course i have no idea on her situation etc.
So, has anyone ever “made a move” so to speak in a situation that could be construed as “un-professional”? And did it stick?
( i was acutely aware that nurses etc see hundreds of people every single day, and can “turn on the charm” pretty much at will!)
Well, i’ll never know now, but i can’t help wondering………..
Over to you for your stories of wild debauchery, romantic liasons and restraining orders in everyday situations 😉Posted 5 years agokevjMember
Yip, nurses are filth.
When I was getting my shoulder fixed, the nurse who prepped me prior to getting put under asked about my tattoos. She then promptly showed me hers (very quickly before the anethetist came back). Nice privet is all I can say.
Then, when I damaged my back, the a & e nurse held my arm straight to fit the venthlon (sp) by placing my palm on her coconut husk and gripping. I’m sure she smiled.Posted 5 years agobruneepSubscriber
I married a nurse, its not true what is said here, only thing she’s gagging for is a cup o tea and a sleep after a 12hr dayshift 🙁
She is the most uncaring person toward me, my head and body would have to be separated before I get any sympathy. Then again she’ll probably be responsible for it.Posted 5 years agoaracerSubscriber

I was seen by quite an attractive female doctor when I ran into the pointy bit of a railing, which hit me just about 1″ to the left of where it would have been extremely painful. She didn’t seem all that impressed 🙁Posted 5 years agoepicycloSubscriber

Was this when you cracked your flange?

I teach outdoor ed. I was teaching a group of year 8’s when their form tutor came to see them for two days (they kids stay for 5).
She’s gorgoeous and I was smitten. I asked her if she wanted my number on the second day. She said yes. That was Thursday. I went to hers for a pizza and beer on Friday and never left. 4 weeks later she proposed and 4 months later we got married.
I made sure the kids weren’t there when I ‘made my move’ and I asked her if she wanted my number as I thought it was less stalkerish. Now I know that she was pretty smitten by me too and I could have got away with more or less anything at the time and it all would have been sweet.
To the OP, bottom line is you will never know unless you get of your backside and do something about it! Life is full of missed oppotunity.Posted 5 years ago
