- Truvativ Cranks & Shimano Chainrings – half hearted rant.
Deore Middle ring doesn't fit!
Who's being difficult – Shimano or Truvativ?
There's not much of an overlap, and I'll probably just take a hacksaw and file to the shoulders of the tabs on the crank.
RRRRRGHHH, though. I thought bolt diameters aside, chainrings were chingrings were chainrings?

there are two different shimano fittings ( at least) for 104 bcd chainrings – the shoulder on teh crank is a mm or two smaller.
*kneels, crying, shaking fists at the sky*
Why, Shimano!? For God's sake, WHY??!?!?
tj, normally I'd agree, file the cheaper, consumeable bit, but the chainring's steel, cranks are ally, and I'd rather not have to do it again. I can't imagine that what I'm proposing to file off is going to affect strength in any meaningful way. It's only about 1/2 mm off the shoulder stepping down to the tab itself.
This has come after a number of other bike frustrations, hence the melodrama.Posted 8 years ago
