The shock on my Remedy 9 knocks a fair bit, particularly in the pro-pedal on and trail settings, I haven’t noticed it in the fully open mode though. Anyone else have this- is this normal? It’s done it since new (March) but I’ve never bothered doing anything about it!

Also, the middle ‘trail’ setting on the shock feels just pretty rubbish. Fine on flat xc trails but jarring on descents. Assuming this is just the tune rather than a problem!

Spoke to TF tuned who recommended a different shock (the DRCV shocks are apparently not particularly good), as I feel it blows through it’s travel too easily (even when running 20% sag) and I bottom out a lot. But I do ride quite aggressively and hit some decent sized jumps and drops. I’ve got 1 volume spacer installed, but it now feels a little less controlled deeper into it’s travel. But I don’t like the idea of spending several hundred £ on a new shock! Any thoughts on any of the mess of topics above?

It shouldn’t knock. The shock blowing through it’s travel is a trait of the DRCV as Trek wanted it to feel. The joys of a proprietary item. Personally I’d fit a standard shock, more tuning options.

I installed a Vorsprung Corset air sleeve for my DRCV and it’s a big improvement. Nice and supple, lots of mid stroke support and ramps up nicely. I’m 95kg and don’t use any volume spacers. Needs more air pressure than usual, I’m running 300psi.

Mr Frostsy, yes, it feels good using a lot of the travel as they intended, I just find I’m running it firm and still bottoming out fairly easily on general riding (which isnt much of a problem), but leaves it harsh on those moments where I hit something especially big/rough (which I like to do!).

Considered a standard shock, loved the float x2 on an alpine-160 i demo’d recently, but cant justify £500. Monarchs are more reasonable at just over £300, but not sure if this would be an upgrade or not?

Justatheory, reading up on the vorsprung air sleeves now… I thought they were just a high volume chamber, which would make matters worse? appears not to be the case.
