Is a UK photo card driving license enough to get through border controls in the EU.

Yes – as there aren’t any for most of Europe. Shengen agreement. You might have issues getting into the UK tho – or even out of it

Not as far as I know. Although there are no border controls in the Schengen area that doesn’t mean you don’t need to carry ID and I don’t think that a driver’s licence counts. if you don’t get stopped for anything then no-one will know of course. As the UK isn’t part of the agreement your driver’s licence may not be enough to get you in to the area though 🙁

I’ve used a photocard license for getting onto flights within the Schengen area (e.g. France to Germany). However, as above, you need a passport to get out of/into the UK

I think the problem is that you don’t need a uk passport to get a uk driving licence so its does not provide proof of your right to be in the uk.
