Need to remove my WI singlespeed freewheel but no tool and the WI specific one seems silly money for $40 at Aspire.

So can anyone recommend a BMX stylee freewheel removing tool that will work?

    thanks!

Cyclo ( halfords brand) works ok.

It will even do the freewheel when fitted to a ENO eccentric hub if you pop the eccentric "flange" off with an allen key

    Park works for me too.

Some cheap freewheel removers don't fit.

halfords didn't have one of those type of freewheel tools when i looked a few months ago. the fr-6c is a bit of a pita to source now too, it seems. crc don't ( or didn't ) have stock and wiggle don't keep it. i ordered mine from rutland in the end, who said they had stock, but apparently it won't be in until middle of the month. 🙄

I got mine from the Bike Shed in Exeter, so your LBS may be worth a look, or BMX specialist shop maybe. It was about 2 years ago mind.

You will damage the freewheel IMHO if its glued on, like mine usually are,use the proper tool if you value your knuckles 😕

i used the standard shimano one.
use a QR lever to lock it onto the freewheel and a big FO Wrench.

Dont tighten the qr to much though as you could strip some threads been there done that!

charlie the bikemonger does a cheap one if your struggling. He sourced some specifically for WI freewheels.

Hi, you only need the WI one if you have the eccentric hub.
Otherwise a standard cyclo brand one will work, but some seem a tad too small for white. WE sell the the cyclo ones at about a fiver.

Most four prong tools will fit, but check 'em first before you buy one. Also a good tip is to remove the lockring from the freewheel as it allows the (non White Industries) tools to sit further in the slots of the freewheel.

As for the cost of the White Industries tool – yes it's bonkers, but once you see how they fit is makes sense. $40 (when you add on the Duty and VAT) is actually the same price as they are in the UK.
