This – Bahco S240 Socket Set 24 Piece 1/2 Square Drive

I toyed with the idea of the Halfords £100 set, but I’ve already got half the bits.
    This should fill the gaps.

    Lolz.

Bahco is good stuff, though. I’ve had the S330 for years and still going strong.

    That was todays tool pron.

Those bahco ratchets are lovely , i have the 1/2 and the 1/4 never seem to use 3/8s stuff much.

I’ve got the bigger 106 part socket set. I’ve always thought it was very good quality especially as I paid £99 from clas ohseln. IMHO better than the halfords pro range.

Bahco stuff is nice… I don’t need sockets but I could do with a new 1/2 inch ratchet, hmm

just the job for cables perhaps?

Would you choose sidecutters for cables? Always had overlapping blades for mine…

Sidecutters work fine and give a fine cut + you can sharpen them lots of times. Overlappers develop a gap if you sharpen them lots

Cheers, all my sidecutters have been cheap rubbish, never tried a good one!

Ooh, nice one Geoff. Methinks I might just have to go for their full monty 100+ piece set for an apparent saving of £300 🙂

EDIT: mind you, Halford’s Pro 170 piece set is only £125 – that’s a lot of kit.

    Spacemoneky, i have both.

Bahco pisses all over the halfords one unless you need imperial- which i do…. The bahco stuff is face drive (hex)instead of corner drive(bihex)in most applications this is far superior and reduces instances of rounded bolts

Yeah, it’s funny you mention the Imperial thing as I was starting to wonder about the relevance of it. Have just seen some decent looking Teng kits on sale too.

    Hmm.

Eyeballing a Wera 1/4″ ratchet myself ATM but those look pretty good.

    Hmmmmm, tools.

    Mmmm wera,

Id rate the bahco stuff above teng , we use teng at work, doesnt feel much different to halfords stuff tbh

You can get bahco dual 80 ratchets too, same as snapons 🙂 ( think chrisking ratchet vs older hopes)

Not surprising really since bahco are owned by a big us told corp these days 🙂

I like the texture of my teng kit, makes a huge difference when I’m fumbling about, covered in engine oil… Never damaged a socket yet despite best efforts (got a bad habit of pushing a 3/8ths with a 1/2 and an adaptor) but the ratchets feel a little cheap. Not worth the RRP I don’t think

Forgot about that bobus. The bahcos are peened and annodized not chromed like halfords. Like northwind says this great for oily hands
