I think I can tell the positive difference my oval ab ring makes. But I’m certain having one and say it’s good annoys some people. Double win.

For most people (ie not Wiggo ) any tiny difference in pedalling efficiency brought by oval rings on road bikes will be offset 10x or more by just training more / smarter!

That’s just like the time honoured “do a poo instead” argument- just because you can achieve greater benefits in difference ways doesn’t mean smaller benefits aren’t worth seeking. Most people don’t want to train more, and would be very happy to get 1/10th of the benefit for bolting on a new part.
