My wife was looking to buy some new football boots for our son. She found some on-line at a good price and bought with the switch card.

I have now pointed out the web address and have suggested she gets her card cancelled asap.

    Firstly – I am right?

Secondly – anything else worth doing?

    Probability is that you’re right.

Site looks pretty iffy without digging too deeply and there’s no address or contact details..thats always a bad sign.

Speak to the card company and see if you can cancel the payment or do a charge back.

    Cancel the card of course!

The shipping and returns page is also very badly worded, I’ve seen worse on some scam sites but still.

Domain was registered for two years, a year ago.

    Registration Date:2017-06-05
    Expiration Date:2019-06-05

That’s a good sign in that it wasn’t “last week” and scam domains tend to only be registered for a year.

However, the site looks cheap, obviously bears no resemblance to the URL, and crucially has no contact or location details beyond a “contact us” web form.

There’s no secure connection on the site – the shopping basket is communicating in plaintext – and forcing it into https spits out an invalid server certificate for “hghopkinsandsons.co.uk.”  For added lols, the web server is located in Panama.

    If I were a guessing man, I’d say that’s a stolen / hacked domain.

First thing I’d be doing is ringing the bank.  Then I’d be changing passwords anywhere else where you’ve reused the same credentials submitted to the site.
