Back to the (hopefully) regular Friday night head clearer after the working week (much needed right now TBH). Should hopefully get out Sunday too weather permitting.

    Definitely #nocarnognarnotfar though.

    From yesterday:

Out on the fat bike in 10cm of snow on top of soft waterlogged ground despite it being -4C (snow’s a great insulator).

Freezing cold, muddy and steaming rivers. Still better than Zwift.

I won’t bore you with pictures of Zwift or Richmond Park, I’m afraid that’s all I’ve got planned this weekend 🙁

Got out for a spin on Friday in the snow and freezing fog. Gears froze, so much of it was singlespeed.

We’ve had a fair bit of rain since and the snow has pretty much melted so tomorrow will be a slop-fest.

    Praying for another big freeze.

No pics of the riding sadly, too much fun to stop for most of it. Lots of slippy mud with firm ground not far below, perfect for keeping the speed up and sliding round corners.

Lucky I had pit crew waiting at home!

managed to get in a post lunch road ride, surprisingly dry considering most of my usual off road is under 3ft of water

and on a side note, what is it with youths and the cold ? jeans and a sweat shirt no gloves, I know I’m smashing out a 100 watts or so but still! four layers and overboots!!!!

Yep, that mud! That was me last weekend, slogging through with even my SS complaining… thankfully Salisbury Plain is not far and it’s not difficult to put together a mud free route 🙂

A hack out around the tops of Rossendale again for me and managed to get 1,000 ft of climbing in. It’s a first this year and something to build on.

Another local ride (obviously…) this morning. Lovely sunshine but manky trails. Got a wet arse, slipped around a bit (the joys of being too stubborn to switch away form a semi-slick rear tyre in the winter), then dug/scraped/kicked some drainage out so others hopefully didn’t suffer to quite the same extent.

Was supposed to be taking the newly fitted dropper post riding today on the MTB but yesterday’s thaw made me shy away from washing the bike once again. So I took the arkose out for a run down to the Tyne Tunnel via the old railway line. I have never seen so many puddles, mud and skating rinks in my life. How I managed to stay on two wheels all the way there and back is more luck than judgement. Didn’t stop for pics of the mud, just picture a Belgian CX race after three days of rain. Still ended up washing the bike, it’ll need a proper clean again tomorrow as the pads and BB sounded ropey on the way home.

A muddy, but well needed pootle.

I have no idea how this car got here. It’s quite some distance from the nearest road, and surrounded by trees! Looks relatively modern too!

First proper ride since October. I’m terrible for going into hibernation in the winter.
