Can anyone explain to me why I’m overcome with snot whenever I do the mildest exercise/biking/running in this weather? It’s just bad news for anyone downwind of me. Sorry if this is a GCSE biology question but I’m genuinely curious

    Long covid side effects?

I’ve been horribly snotty for weeks.

Cold air contains less moisture, so it dries your nasal passages up, to which they compensate with buckets of snot?

Not biology, if you’re old enough? 🤔 to remember the comic characters the Numbskulls who live in different departments of your head . The ones in your nostrils were always on overtime at this time of year 👍

I’m really suffering with this. I’d got much better at breathing through my nose while riding, but now? No chance.

    “Skier’s nose”

It’s caused by the exercise-induced rhinitis that @dawson suggests. Cold air can cause a runny nose by activating nerves to stimulate the lining of the nose to produce mucus.
