So come 11pm last night we’re off up the hospital with my fiancée who was 37 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Come 5:03am earlier this morning my first child was born, being a daughter. Decent size too considering she’s almost 3 weeks early, 7lbs dead on.

Is this the most surreal feeling in the world? Because it definitely felt like something I’ll never find anywhere else.

ha! when I read the thread title my first thought was “watching the mrs give birth”. well done for having the three of you at home. stoner Jr dropped out at 30wks so was in ICU until he was allowed home a 5lbs about a month later. think he was 2 or 3 lbs when he arrived. his brother has far less inclination tot the dramatic flair though 🙂

nearly 9 months old now and sleeping mostly through the night so its all good.

we were comforted and astonished in equal measure when we were told that our ICU could regularly (50%) support Prem babies of 1lb to going home.

yep, was a bit of a life changer. realised now it looks a bit top trumps though in the context of the thread.

all good now though and just arranged a four day week from September. Adventure fridays are a go…

Yep – with my first she fell asleep in the carseat on the way back from the hospital. We snuck into the house, put her (still asleep) into the middle of the floor, sat on the settee together, put on the TV ….. and waited.

Then she woke up again and life changed.

Well I didn’t find it surreal. I just thought oh, a baby.

Then I’m kind of like that – I just get on with things and think about it all later.

Having said that, having our second in the house was a little surreal. Three of us came back from the supermarket or wherever it was, then a few hours later there were four of us but WE HADN’T LEFT THE HOUSE! She just appeared.

No little bracelet, no wooly hat, no Bounty pack, nothing. Weird.

Her first hiccups, if that’s anything to landmark? Haven’t stopped smiling since 5:03 this morning…x

Hoppy jr is nine months today and is walking around the front room, can’t crawl but will walk unaided randomly launching himself towards the most fragile or spikiest objects he can find. I thought it was hard at the beginning but that was easy.
