Not a ride as such, but saw this walking back from dinner last night and it amused me.

Brilliant new trail over golfie today. It’ll be fantastic when it’s fully finished.

More midweek fun for me today with a solo ride as all my pals were working.

Still a few folks about but getting less as the weather gets shittier.

Back in my Italy office, 5 miles along the sea front, 1 hour climb to the top, followed by a 9 minute 1,500ft descent, then back along the coast road home, quick shower and out for dinner.

It rained all afternoon and night yesterday so didn’t get out, it’s all made of rock round here so fortunately no real mud tonight just the odd little puddle.

Not as muddy as I thought it would be out there, but there’s a lot of water going through the river…

A right pea-souper last night, nearly didn’t go out, but glad I did. Just 1.5 hours on the gravel bike.

It was pretty grim on last weeks night ride so I wrote a thing: https://www.pickled-hedgehog.com/the-grim-returns/

I think it has one swearword in it right at the end 😉

Another bump for this thread as no one has posted on it for a couple of weeks.

Not the most successful of rides due to foresting but still a ride so not all bad.

Used to be a nice snaking singletrack along here.
Looks totally fine to ride on… by StuartBrettle, on Flickr

Couldn’t even ride the Eeber through it then had my shoe sucked off* when I tried to walk it.

The actual trails were all fine apart from this one on the way home.

Not a good picture, but a good ride at Apsley woods (Woburn) on the way to a work conference in Northampton. A most excellent way to break the journey!

From Weds. Slippy as a very slippery thing lightly greased and served on glass! 10 degrees warmer and 100% sketchier than last week. Been rodding it down since then so next outdoor ride will be the annual hungover Classic Gap on the 27th. Hardtail for the first time. So that’ll be, er, entertaining.

Back to normal midweek rides for us today.
Tiny bit of snow left and some icy patches higher up.
Trails were all clear and good fun thankfully.
A quick 1300 metres of descending before the rain came in.

Another bump for this thread as not as many folks are posting on it with all the shitty weather this time of year brings.
A 1000 meters descending wet, wind and occasional moments of sun for us this morning.

OK. I’ll contribute.

Monday evening, hour and a half on the SS HT, keeping off the mud and mincing down steps instead … this time last year I was nursing a broken finger from having overcooked a take off on one flight of steps, so was taking it very easy.

@singlespeedstu- every time I see your pics I want to come back and ride those trails again.

I’ll post something later/tomorrow. It’s probably be a very muddy bike and us all drinking a well earned pint!

Humphrey the gravel bike up the 6km climb, which is a good run for the dogs, then an easy roll back down.

From this point I can usually see kielder, the eastern hills of the lake District and the eildons.

@singlespeedstu you have and I really want to take you up on it.  Got to find a way to fit it in this year.

Filthy

Filthy. That’s the only word for it. But still bloody good fun. Except for the sound of the drivetrain eating itself.

It was pretty grim on last weeks night ride so I wrote a thing: https://www.pickled-hedgehog.com/the-grim-returns/

Thanks. I might be writing another one after I backed my bike trailer into my wife’s car last night 😉

Back in Italy for a fortnight, single figure temps and drizzle the last few days, but nicer than at home.

Yesterday.

Today, there are some horribly new water channels cut into the rock on the top sections that certainly focus the mind, pictures from the tame sections.

It’s a decent sized hill.

Keeping it real with another sunny Scottish ride.😉

Just shy of 1500 meters of descending and the sun even came out while I was washing my kit off.
Not bad for a Tuesday morning in January.

Last ride before packing up and heading home, final class had to leave at 2pm to get to Florence for their flight home, so we stayed late yesterday and started early today, meaning I go to ride in the daylight, beautiful day, but colder than it looks.

Morning ride with Mrsstu and a mate out on an XC bike she’s doing a review on.
It seemed to cope remarkable well with the unmarked trail considering the scary steep head angle and almost slick tyres on it.

Two weeks ago it was GSD (Greasy Snot Death) on our local trails. As muddy as I’ve seen for quite a few winters. Last night it was nearly all dry with even the mud being of the not splatter-y sort. Like summer except for it being dark. Wasn’t even cold. Fantastic ride followed by a beer.

I’ll take that 1st of Feb!

Dry ride in Feb!

First ride of the FS for about 4 months. Definitely a smoother ride than the HT 😉
