The iPad app gets worse

arcingFree Member
It’s been ruined over the last few months. Look at this lovely high res image on a retina iPad.
Is anyone at the magazine doing any quality control. Pocketmags are ruining your hard work.
S_JFree MemberHow do you access the mag via the app if you’re an existing premier subscriber??

How do you access the mag via the app if you’re an existing premier subscriber??POSTED 10 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST
There is a link on the Premier member tab, says it can take 7 days to set up, I’m still waiting 6 weeks on…… 🙄
arcingFree MemberAndydicko I don’t think they actually check the mailbox those emails go to. I did it three times. I called the office in the end. I wouldn’t bother with the app, I’m going to start downloading the PDF
DickBartonFull MemberIn the same vein as the Apple adverts…
There is a fix for that!
It doesn’t involve an Apple product though…
convertFull MemberWas going to ask similar – I pressed the link weeks ago and no response. Not sure what I’m waiting for- an email from pocketmags? Doesn’t look worth having from the look of that mind. …
arcingFree MemberAnother beauty, this one is even better. Bear in mind you can’t zoom either 😯

But it would be nice to get some sort of response.
MarkFull MemberGuys, its 10 at night!
I’m confused why you are getting the replica print version on your iPad. iPad users are meant to get the custom iPad designed issue and not the print copy.
Tom and Patrick will be devoting their day tomorrow to sorting out Pocketmags accounts for everyone who has ticked the box to have one in their profile pages.
So in short it looks like the resolution issues are because you are getting the wrong version for your device. Why that is happening is the issue we need to look into.
Email tech@singletrackworld.com rather than post here at night.
andydickoFree MemberMark,
10 at night, still early in the day for me 😆
I’ll look forward to the info coming through.
Cheers.
SimpsanFree MemberThink yourselves lucky you get anything at all, countless mails to Singletrack and pocket Mags and still being asked for 3.99 to download a digital version of the Premier account subscription I requested months ago.
MBR seem to manage to make it work… 😆grumFree MemberThere is a link on the Premier member tab, says it can take 7 days to set up, I’m still waiting 6 weeks on……
Me too.
MarkFull MemberSorry for the delays in activating. We didn’t launch the activating link in the profiles as we wanted to control the initial flow of new account setups. Needless to say it has not gone as smoothly as we hoped. Your account link won;t work until you have received an email confirming the link is there. If you haven’t had that email then you will be asked to buy the issue. as your account hasn’t been activated.
We sent through the first batch of accounts several weeks ago and for some reason they have not been activated. Tom and Patrick will be devoting their day tomorrow to finding out what has gone wrong and they will fix it.Now, the way it will work (when it does) will need explaining. Our Premier system and the Pocketmags system are two very different things and getting them to ‘talk’ to each other is clearly more difficult than we had anticipated (although I suspect the issue here is just a communication glitch that has meant the account confirmation emails have not been sent out). But for those who activate this link, we will add a single issue credit to your pocketmags account each time we publish a new issue. You can then use this credit to download the new issue.
However, you will, if you choose to, be able to use that credit to download any other issue in the Pocketmags Singletrack library. It’s important to be clear that if you do decide to use your credit in this way you won’t be able to download the latest issue without buying it from Pocketmags. In otherwords the link won;t work like the Mag Archive does in that as a subscriber you can download every back issue you want.
Why is this?
Each credit we add to your Pocketmags account we are charged for. We can’t allow full access to all back issues in the Pocketmags library because the cost to us would be much too high.
So.. Mag Archive = Knock yourself out – download the lot – as often as you like.
Pocketmags App = 1 issue credit each time a new mag comes out. Now… All we have to do is make the bloody thing work!
Once again.. Sorry for the rather rubbish launch of this part of our subscription. We are working very hard to fix it.
convertFull MemberThanks for the lengthy response (late at night!) to this Mark. Hopefully it can be resolved soon because it does like a nice edition to the subscriber offer.
fozzyukFull MemberWill you also be discussing the Android app please. I also mailed pocket mags weeks ago and have had nothing back at all?
vinnyehFull MemberWell, that’s not gone too well then.
Aft er somebody posted on another thread last night I thought I’d have a look to see if my account had been activated, though I’d not received any emails saying to was in operation.A bit of faffing and sure enough I find I can download an issue. Grab the latest one in the store, and have a look- turns out to be last months. Oh well think I, the new issue will be up in the next day or so. Now I find I can’t download it without paying again, as per Marks explanation.
Very surprised by the quality issues, text especially doesn’t look great on an ipad.leffeboyFull MemberAnyone else got an illegible single speed bike test page underneath the camelback review? I’m wondering if it’s just me or a pocket mags issue?
leffeboyFull MemberAll of it is fine for me apart from that one single speed page
Edit: just updated the iPad app and it’s still as bad – just that one page
singletrackgraceFree MemberAlthough you shouldn’t be receiving the replica version on your iPad, I am going to uploaded a higher resolution version of it.
We haven’t had this problem using the office iPads, so haven’t been able to do a controlled test of all that could possibly go wrong.
Thanks for your feedback.
atlazFree MemberSo a quick question. I pay 2 quid a month for the premier so I can read the odd article and support STW. Do I really have to stump up an extra pound a year to use the app?
MarkFull MemberAtlas, Yes I’m afraid we can only offer the App link to annual subscribers.
Arcing, thanks for the feedback. We’ll look into it. Grace is already working on uploading a higher res version of the replica issue although we are still not sure why anyone with an iPad is not getting the ipad version.
cpFull Memberthe low-res pages shown above aren’t limited to pocket mags – the low quality PDF’s I download for use on the tablet have probably 10 pages or so like that, the rest are clear text. It’s like some entire pages have converted as a low res image inc. text, rather than low-res images and sharp text as per the rest of the PDF.
singletrackgraceFree MemberI’ve had continued communication throughout the day with Magazine Cloner, and their advice is “delete and redownload of the issue should resolve it… If it doesn’t please ask them to contact us.”
The app itself has been updated recently, please ensure that you’re using the latest version of the app (with the large black and white banner across the top).
SimpsanFree MemberWell, I can honestly say say I’m really pleased for the people it’s working for, tried to download the latest copy and STILL being asked to pay £3.99 ! 🙁
No email for activation, based on the nice words above I really expected to see this move on but apparently not.
Pretty frustrating really.hammyukFree MemberGrace – I personally have now been waiting almost 3 months for the “activation link”.
If you tie up with someone like PocketMags then really – it’s not hard to pass over a database of subscribers is it…
You have an obligation to provide the service that you are charging us subscribers for – for those if us that STILL have no access to the app – do we get a refund? A discount? Moon dust?….
Afterall we are being charged for that part of the subscription yet do not have it…SimpsanFree MemberI was offered to take part in the trial of the Premier app on the 8th October 2012…….
4 months by my reckoning……patricksingletrackFree MemberHi Simpsan,
That was a call for people interested in being in the trial. The trial was oversubscribed and I don’t think you were included. The opportunity to opt into app access was made available in December and from what I can se you have not opted into it.
We should have the technical problems sorted soon so if you want to opt in head over to your account page and tick the box
http://singletrackworld.com/premier/account/hammyukFree MemberPatrick – I opted in in october – again 4 months ago.
All I’ve had since then is this …Access the Singletrack App
To access the Singletrack App we need to create a account for you and share your name, email address and number of magazines remaining in you subscription with our App provider pocketmags
You have requested that your subscription details are shared with pocketmags. It may take up to 7 days for your pocketmags account to be credited.
Further information on App access and your subscription.Nothing has changed since then at all other than my patience getting shorter..
MarkFull MemberHammy, there was nothing to opt into in October. The system wasn’t activated until mid December.
What we are talking about is the check box in your user profile settings that you must tick in order for us to send your details to Pocketmags.
You’ve not ticked the box yet.
What I think you are referring to is our earlier trial where we asked for volunteers. You weren’t selected for that trial.hammyukFree MemberMark – trust me – I ticked the “check box” in October – the quote above is directly from my “Premier” page.
Just in case you missed it…You have requested that your subscription details are shared with pocketmags. It may take up to 7 days for your pocketmags account to be credited.
Further information on App access and your subscription. How long are the “days” where you are?
SimpsanFree MemberI have opted in and my account page has stated the below for what seems like months…My subscription end in March, wonder if I’ll get to download a copy before then…

lcjFull MemberCoincidentally (or not), email received this pm about pocketmags access. Downloaded the app but now being asked to pay for the latest issue. Thoroughly confused by all above, any suggestions from singletrack towers please?
