cinnamon_girl – my heart goes out to you. I found myself in your situation 8 years ago. I prayed my Father would die (he was very ill) and when it happened it was surreal.
All these years on now and I still miss him every day.

Big hug coming your way, love bunnyhop XX

My dad’s anniversary is in a few days. Feb 1st. Always gets to me.

He had a long – long term problems. He was glad when he knew it was over. I dont know if that helps, but it does for me and my mum.

Had exactly the same thing 3 years ago, when my dad died, he was in so much pain, and we had expected him to die a few times, over the years, but he pulled through.

At the end it was a shock and a relief he died, but i still have the memories of him, you have the same, enjoy them as much as you did when dad was alive.

Best wishes and condolances for the future, to you and your family.

Thank you all for your kind words and virtual hugs. You know the day will come (he was 89 years old) and dementia is such a cruel illness. As bunnyhop says, it is surreal.

    RIP Dad.

Hi c_g. As you may recall, I’ve just been through this too. My feelings were very mixed – grief, obviously but tinged with a certain relief that the pain is now over for him.

Don’t be afraid to talk and be prepared to comfort, and be comforted by, others.

Your references to him indicate that you had a very good relationship. Recall that over the coming weeks and months. It’s how he would want you to remember him.

    PS – hugs

project – yes, I remember you posting. It’s amazing how the body can keep going despite the ravages of illness. The older generation were so tough.

TSY – could you e-mail the details please and if I feel up to it, I’ll join you guys for a bit. Thanks.

So sorry for you, C_G. Lost my mum a year ago and, though it sounds trite, it does get easier. The good stuff stays with you, and the bad stuff gets easier to remember without crying…

    God bless…
