I have a blackberry curve from work. For work email, calendar and tasks it is good but I dont think i would choose it for a personal smartphone. Web browsing us painfully slow even with 3G and it seems to lock up often. If you don’t want lots of apps and games though it is probably fine. My only comparison is my wifes iPhone 4, which is great for personal and fun stuff but not so good for outlook sync and calendar etc

Tesco = O2 network so good coverage.
They do a £10 a month sim only deal with no tie in that I use which is great and flexible.
Helpful customer service as well.
