I was camping in the Becons last week and came across the ‘Taff Trail’.

Anyone cycled it and what is it like?

    Cheers 🙂

I’ve not ridden it past Tongwynlais but if the rest of it up to Brecon is like the lower parts then its mainly tarmac and a piece of cake to ride on.

It’s nice, quite long, pleasant scenery, not very tech at all and not very hilly. Towpath type terrain. There are a few dodgy bits through industrial estates but mostly very nice countryside. You used to be able to get a bus with bike trailer from Cardiff to Brecon then ride back, not sure if that is still running.

It’s a transport link, really. Old railway lines, so pancake flat apart from one bit. A pretty tedious way to get from Cardiff to Brecon, but at least there’s no traffic 🙂

Yeah it’s ok. There’s quality MTB near the trail all the way along though 🙂
