Anyone know what the latest is with the landowner?

Was up there last Sunday and all the signs saying private land/no trespassing/no entry etc.. have been removed at the end of Evian

Has the landowner now given permission to use his land or has something else happened??

I would suggest popping a message to the Hurtwood Ranger for clarification.

The signs were will up from where some d*ckhead tried to resurrect Milestone, but there was nothing around Evian last weekend. They have probably been torn down again.

That said, Evian is long past it’s best now anyway, so wouldn’t be a crying shame if it did get wiped out 🙂

I can’t imagine the landowner will be accommodating towards mountain bikers, as long as he has a hole in his bum.

No chance. Jim McC will never give in there. The area from end of Evian is his back yard basically. Have been incidents in last 6 months or so with his staff or family telling people to clear off.

Signs go because people rip them down. Likewise entrances re-open. He’ll be back blocking it all off again when he feels like it.

Last post from Hurtwood Ranger was Evian / Milestone is no go.

Milestone is or was different landowner and is on Hurtwood land, likewise top of Evian, but that guy got pissed off with Milestone so had enough of it there, flattening both at the time. He was more tolerant to bikes but not massive scale digging without permission. That said, the ranger posted coloured map of land owner areas and that area is owned by Jim now according to that (along with all across to Northern Monkey etc). He’s more tolerant of riding on Hurtwood land he now owns though. For now.

The Hurtwood Ranger posted a notice on Facebook back in April that Evian and Three Amigos would be permenantly closed soon.

“We will over the coming weeks be closing two trails on Winterfold, Evian and Three Amigos, not especially because of problems with the trail features, but simply because they both exit onto our neighbours private property. We have looked at alternative routes, but realistically they wouldn’t be practical and only end in the same problems we have now.”
