I was going to suggest somewhere but my real suggestion would be go elsewhere. Chinatown is not great for good Chinese food TBH it’s just muck for tourists mostly. Go to Hunan instead.

Feng Shui Inn at the east end of Gerrard St. About the best ratio of price to quality, without any suggestion of eatallyoucan-ness.

About 10 minutes away by cab or it’s nearish Sloane Square tube, best to book.

I generally just walk past and look through the window to see how many Chinese (or at least Asian) people are eating in them, more being betterer of course!

if Wong Kei’s is still the rudest place in london, it’s amusing. food is was mediocre though 😉

to be fair to the new management/staff it’s probably very nice now.
